By my logic, Tyson Fury broke the decade-long domination of Wladimir Klitschko.

Fury by far. No comparison here.

Fury freed the division from Wlad like Frodo freed the people of middle earth from evil.

Then he climbed to the top of Mount Doom after coming out of his depression to free the final belt from Sauron himself.

He went through hell and back for us.

Exactly. Fury took down the champ. Nothing even to debate.

If you go fight for fight, only one was actually a fight.
But Fury beat Wlad while he still was "the man", while Joshua beat Wlad coming of a loss and a layoff.
So whatever you think of Fury, if you think he should have been banned at the time, if you think he stunk out the place, if you think it didn't really resemble a boxing match... he beat the champ.

Wlad looked like he'd been in a fight for the first time in many years.

The fact that it wasn't a war or even really competitive is a credit to Fury: he absorbed the fewest number of punches ever in a victorious 12 round heavyweight championship fight (52) against a previously never outboxed in 67 fights elite champion and KO artist in his backyard. It's not the most exciting fight to watch back but you won't find a better prolonged example of the art of hitting while not getting hit at heavyweight.

Joshua did manage to have an entertaining fight with Klitschko. Which was near impossible

One was a razor close decision with less punches landed than an average bar scrap.

The other was a TKO.

That said, Fury beat him first.

Joshua defeated old Wlad in an honorable way, in a fair fight.

Fury used every lowly trick in the book to psychologically abuse old Wlad (getting them to remove the padding on the mat that Wlad was used to, making Wlad wrap his hands twice), and fought a cowardly style in the ring.

I consider Joshua's win better.

Neither meant much imo. Even two years earlier Wlad probably would have stopped them.

Both wins were legit, equally legit.

But AJ beat a better version of Wlad, who appeared to be having a distracted, off-night against Tyson.

That said, in terms of significance, Fury's win was more valuable.

I feel like this gets asked here every week
It could be 2040 and Furys win would still be better by a country mile

Obviously Fury’s win was by far a bigger accomplishment. AJ’s win was more exciting because Wlad having been 2 1/2 years older and inactive since his loss, was much more of an even fight. AJ really should have been KO’ed save for some really bad advice in Wlad’s corner mixed with too many years avoiding danger…and credit to AJ for a warriors effort.

Many thought Wlad was way past it after seeing Fury so easily outclass him, and to some extent true. But Fury was way better than I initially gave him credit for and I think AJ’s win actually bolstered that fact.
