so for hopkins to gain a even round without a knockdown he would have to win it in 10-8 fashion, so people can surely be calling for an even round!
Getting a strange sense of deja vu here, I'm sure that the last time we had this discussion and someone kept insisting they weren't wrong despite everyone pointing out that they were, they linked to that exact same article. Unfortunately random internet wiki articles are not the font of all knowledge. As I pointed out the last time, that article claims to have two sources. One is a book by Harold Lederman who is an arse who has repeatedly proven to have no clue how to score a fight. The other is a book by Tom Kaczmarek who is an actual boxing judge. And here is an article by Tom Kaczmarek which totally contradicts what you have linked here. http://www.secondsout.com/ringside/...ing-professional-boxing-for-the-tv-boxing-fan So, you can go by the words of an actual boxing judge or an anonymous source on the internet who gets it wrong despite claiming to use the actual boxing judge as a source. Your choice. Otherwise, as this is a deja vu thread, what happens next is that you continue to insist you're right despite being unable to supply any actual evidence, I say well try to find just one round in an actual boxing fight scored by an actual boxing judge that backs up your view, you continue blustering, everyone laughs. I could just link you to the previous thread if you like so you can see how it would go?
I am sure the person who was knocked down feels the same way, but why should we change how we score fights? Knocking a fighter down should come with a reward and it does... why take that away?
I agree, if fighter A is winning the round easily but can't put fighter B down then fighter B legally puts fighter A down then fighter B deserves a 10-8 round in my opinion as knocking somebody down in a combat sport is a big thing. To me knocking somebody down is more dominating that somebody dominating you for 2 minutes 45 seconds. Another variable is if fighter A gets knocked down twice but was on top and fighter B gets knocked down only once.
A knockdown gives you a extra point. You lose the round its 10-9. Get the knockdown its 10-10 if you opponent continues to outpoint you til the end of the round.
