1. AJ is an exclusively fast twitch athlete: he's a natural sprinter (young Femi broke his school’s year 9 record for the 100M) and is therefore not genetically built for endurance. 2. Being a natural sprinter in build, AJ (like David Haye to a lesser extent) is not a genuine super-heavyweight: his heart and lungs are small in proportion to the size of his pumped-up bodybuilder physique. His organs have to work overtime to pump enough blood and oxygen to his muscles, which leads to early fatigue and the pressure on his artificial body increases with age. His excessive musculature also rigidifies and slows him down more than the same weight would rigidify and slow down a natural big man with the frame, heart and lungs to carry it and he will especially struggle when he has to carry the weight of a much bigger man in the most important fight of his life as well. 3. AJ's style is highly explosive: it's based on throwing extended combinations of power punches to overwhelm his opponents and this leads to him gassing if he can't take his opponent out there and then. AJ doesn't just take a round off here and there; when he's tired he needs at least four or five rounds to get a second wind and that depends on his opponents being unable or unwilling to punish him while he’s exhausted. 4. AJ isn’t the best at handling pressure (partially due to his poor stamina and questionable chin) especially post-Ruiz: excessive nervousness and fear exhaust your energy supply and cause you to gas out more quickly. When you are gassed your punch power declines, punch frequency declines, speed of punch declines, speed of movement declines, reflexes decline, accuracy declines, balance declines, punch resistance declines, mental fortitude declines, aggression declines, ring IQ declines and it emboldens the opponent. Energy is everything in a physical sense, so gassing hugely reduces your effectiveness as a fighter in every respect.
Its because his huge amount of muscle mass is not natural and his body cant sustain it in the long run. he is naturally much skinnier, about 215-20lbs. When he paces himself well he doesn't tend to gas but when he throws the godamn kitchen sink at his opponents his steroid cow muscles sap his oxygen supply to strangulation levels.
Please believe all this crap and send to Tyson Fury to convince him. When AJ stands Tyson Fury on his head you will wonder why. Facts AJ has gone the full 12 rounds in world title fights and has knocked out world champions in rounds 9 and 11 and stopped other world title contenders in rounds 7 and 10 but keep convincing yourself he will gas out.
I think it's a little bit too harsh to say that AJ has a poor gas tank. Yes he was not the "extremly conditioned fighter" Rocky Marciano was. But he certainly have a better stamina Than Morrison and Young Forman (Sorry George).
This is a very interesting read, with all due respect, how did you figure this out? I'm being serious, man.
You better be putting a lot of cash on AJ by KO then because most of his fans don't have any confidence in him beating Fury. I will be happy to post the evidence of my bet after the fight. AJ fought at a slow, low volume pace against a tentative Parker and moved away for 12 rounds from a stubby, unconditioned 20+ stone Ruiz in the rematch. He gassed in the 3rd round against Pulev and had to take 5 rounds off against ancient Wlad. You are kidding yourself. AJ will need to throw lots of sustained combinations to have any chance of beating Fury but the problem is whenever he lets his hands go he gasses out. AJ knows this so he will be caught in two minds about whether to let loose, doubly so because of his concerns over his chin. And as soon as AJ is hurt or gets tired, Fury will smother him and prevent him from getting a second wind, stopping him mid-late.
I can't give you any particular answer tbh, these just seem like the reasons for his well-known stamina issues to me.
Unless Fury slows the pace and fights the same as he did against Klitschko, AJ will probably gas out. He's fit but his explosive muscles tie up and tire out after bursts of exertion and he takes long breathers to get his arms back.
He definitely has problems with his punch resistance but I'd say that's his 2nd or 3rd worst failing, behind his gas tank and possibly his mental strength.
I think the evidence shows 2 and 3 come to the fore quickly when he is hit. There appears to be no problems at all with stamina or mental strength except when he was hit hard by Whyte, Klitschko and Ruiz Jnr. The most worrying aspect is he falls to pieces when hit similar to David Price.
