Why Ali is the greatest of ALL TIME in his prime

    IN his prime ali is pretty much impossible to beat if he is focused. he has all the traits needed to be a perfect fighter when most fighters only have a few.

    He is the quickest on his feet(obviously)
    He has fast head movement along with his feet.
    He has the quickest hands
    A good chin

    His legs alone make him unbeatable. youre not going to be able to hit him

    I remember watching cooper talk about how frustrating it was to fight him, he said he was too damn quick. he said one second he would seem like he is in range to get hit, then you throw a shot and hes already 4 feet away

    Im sorry but there is no way your beating a guy who is better in every aspect of the game then you, thats why ali is the best in his prime

    Great as he was Joe didn't beat a prime Ali. Ali was never the same fighter after the ludicrous 3 1/2 yr exile. He was still better than most then

    I don't believe Ali was as much in his prime as he was before his whole drafting debacle. The fact that after, he fought the best and managed to beat his most formidable rivals is what to me, makes him as great as he was. Didn't bull****, didn't question, just went in there and fought.

    Lol are you kidding? ali wasnt in his prime after the layoff. and onlyreason joe got that fight was because of teh knockdown

    Ali was great but he was not unbeatable. Joe beat him and Ali was at his best. In fact, Ali proved that he was still at his best for a few years after.

    Ali wasnt at his best after he came back from the layoff. He was slower and didnt dance as good. he was still the best tho

    Though Ali was a little rusty from the exil, I feel Joe would have always given him problems. Styles make fight, and Joe's style bad for Ali.

    Easy to state without problem that against a prime Ali, Frazier had no chance.

    In fact, the prime Ali beats and KOs Norton & Foreman easier and earlier.

    Ali wasn't even at his best by the standard of his post-exile version, and was far from his prime version. Take a look at his second fight with Frazier. For the first five rounds or so, Frazier couldn't do anything with a mobile Ali. But Ali couldn't maintain his movement post-exile for the entire fight, nor was he nearly as fast or agile all-around as his pre-exile version.

    The short of it is that pre-exile prime Ali was damn near untouchable. I would call him the greatest, even though he had clear flaws in his game(namely no body attack at all), his strengths were just too great for it to matter.

    Post-exile Ali lost a lot of his athletic capability, but showed his greatness in terms of toughness and guile, which was not something that pre-exile Ali ever really had to display that much of. He was still a great fighter but far more mortal than his pre-exile version.
