Look I feel classic needs to get with the program and stop venerating all these old timer who were clearly rubbish. I have outlined in some detail below why everyone you ever thought was great is actually sh*t. I know it will be painful but it's for your own good! 1) I don't recognise any of the guys they beat so obviously everyone they beat is rubbish 2) they lost a few fights, which is crap, I only rate fighters who have the magic "0" like Sven Ottke. Records like 300 - 20 don't impress me much... 3) they didn't have social media accounts so how can I know if they are any good by the number of likes they have? 4) they only held one title, how is that good? You need at least 10 strap to be an ATG. 5) They didn't beat anyone who held 5 x IBO and 10 x IBC title belts in every weight from tiny man weight, paperweight, long wait at the bus stop weight, inbetween normal man weight and fat bast*ard weight. 6) they all went on too long and their records become "spotty" unlike Roy Jones, Evander Holyfield or Shane Mosely. 7) they didn't spend 5 years negotiating a contract for the complex business of hitting someone in the head. Every fan knows it is the legal discussions before a fight which are where the real excitement is. 8) they fought so damn much, how am I meant to attend to my socials when there is a competitive fight every day to watch? 9) some of them didn't look like Michelangelo's David, I can't watch two guys fight unless their physiques impress me aesthetically as the knowledgeable fan of renaissance art that I am. 10) people in the past were dumber in every way so why should their views hold any water? After all they didn't have Boxrec so how the hell do they know what they are talking about? 11) they didn't use PEDs, I mean did they not know how much more money they could make by cheating? 12) they got old, I mean no-one ages these days and no-one will die, at least according to the adverts I watch, I can't believe they lived in an age where fighting 200 fights left you a little worse for wear. 13) boxing is all about technique and physique, none of these old timers would find their overabundance of heart, guts, experience and determination any use against a bit of shoeshine. 14) none of these guys put out a rap album, I think Roy Jones is overrated but I love his music. 15) no decisions, I mean what the hell were they?? 16) some of them were stupid enough to go and fight for their country against the Nazi's rather than hitting the strip clubs for 5 years while bathing in champagne. 19) who the hell fights someone 20lb heavier? Everyone know you need to contractually make them starve themselves to 10Ib below their natural weight before you get in the ring. 20) all these guys looked like Tony Galento, smelled like Tony Galento, fought other guys who looked like Tony Galento and trained like Tony Galento on flat beer and gabagool. 21) no-one knew how to jab, or hook, move their feet, duck their head or make a fist until Floyd Mayweather (GOAT) invented all this stuff. In fact until about ten years ago boxing was more like a form of ballet. 22) even though the film canister was run over by a car, had beer poured on it, shot with a rifle and is at the wrong speed it is quite clear from the evidence on Youtube that these guys couldn't box. 23) I have never watched a fight where a less skilled and conditioned but supernaturally determined and hard punching athlete has beaten a better trained and technically skilled opponent, it has simply never happened in history (or at least in the 5 months I have been a fan) so I know it would not happen if we put an old timer against Canelo Alvarez. 24) it's a fact that anyone before 1990 had a diet consisting of old shoe leather and stinging nettles, thus lacking all the modern "nutrition" that makes the modern fighter so great to watch. 25) none of these guys had inspirational figure heads like Tyson Fury to inspire them to fight. There is nothing like an obese homophobic cocaine addict to inspire a kid to get in the square circle. TAKE OFF YOUR BLINKERS GRANDDAD or GRANDMOM!
