I don't think DeGale is a ****.... but he made himself look bad in the lead up to this fight. He just really hates Groves, and wasn't able to put that to one side and just act normal. Let's face it, he's not exactly a bright lad, is he?
I was surprised by the reception Degale got. He got booed early - was it his first fight - too, but that was for refusing to engage hard and fast enough. Which ironically is what arguably cost him the fight against Groves. I think he has real talent. But there's something about him that makes him hard to like. My guess is that it's the 'rudeboy' persona for want of a better term. The British crowd likes down to earth types. He acted a **** in the build up too. Much moreso than Groves. McDonnell didn't help either. They just came across as a horrible pair of bullying ****s. I was supporting Groves but bear no malice to Degale and will support him in future, I don't really see what he's done to get up people's noses quite so much.
De Gale is nothing like Bellew imo. Bellew is just a fighting man who dont take no ****. I cant see Bellew refusing to shake hands after a fight. De Gale reminds me of a wanna be yardie, the kind of guy who when you meet him on his own, or its in his interests to be nice to you, comes across okay, but once with his his mates, a group, he's potentially the most immature, intolerable, childish person imaginable, as that's his true colours coming through. That is the perception I have of De Gale, a bit like Floyd, he's the type of guy you wouldn't want to meet personally, on a social level, not whilst he's around his mates, as he would probably ridicule and disrespect you. No offense, but personally, I think people who think there is more to James De Gale, that he's really a nice fella, are naive. Sometimes people act the way they do cause that's the way they are, cause they cant suppress their personality.
Degale is a genuine c*nt, no class before fight and zero class after the fight. It's not a front, the boy is a simpleton, what you see is what you get...
I personally dont think Floyd Mayweather wanted to be the bad guy, I think he's so up himself, that he couldn't suppress his natural tendencies to be overconfident, stroke arrogant, and that, that is how he turned into the bad guy, and he's just run with it form there, as he has no choice, cause he cant reign himself in from coming across arrogant, cocky, albeit you can kind of understand why he's like that, being that he's so talented. I get a sense over the last few years, that Floyd, particularly during the Hatton fight, is longing for more support, to be one of the good guys. I mean can anyone imagine De Gale being humble and respectful? its just doesn't seem to be in his DNA.
Whether or not he won gold for his country and is supposedly the better of the 2 bla blaa bla the guy is a total ****. Does he behave with dignity no. The guys has an MBE and behaves like a total and utter knobjockey.
He hasnt lost yet.If he got beat by Cleverly who knows if he would have showed respect. For the last year hes been trashing Cleverly at every opportunity for no reason whatsoever,I fail to see the respect tbh.
I tell u something i dont rate Bellew and fancy Clev to beat him but he he prepares like a beast and gets in shape who knows. The bricklayer on Saturday gave Clev problems.
