I realize at much as anyone, Holy has a tough year or two ahead if he really wants to prove something by winning the championship. He might lose--might not--I don't know, I'm not a prophet. All reality shows is that the guy is still in good shape--has looked better than he did--Think of tyson and his comeback..he beats McNeely, Mathis, Bruno, Seldon---and people wen't nuts over it.If Evander gets whooped by his first big test--so be it. The man is doing all he can to be a goal-setter--Ive heard better things about other former champs who tried to come back and didn't train, came in fat, unmotivated.I will enjoy any way this true man ends his career. And i believe it will be on a good note and will improve the image of boxing.

He has balls deserves respect for truly being a warrior but he's too old and worn. He has nothing left to accomplish and should retire for his healths sake and enjoy however long his health can last (which probably isn't much)

I don't think nearly as many are dissing him, now, as were a couple years ago.

Evander has now regained quite a bit of crediblity, from what I've seen. And the man certianly deserves it.

everyones dissing him because he is getting overhyped off of beating two old washed up bums. i have no disrespect for the guy. he is an all time great heavyweight. but as far as his new run at a title i think its rediculous. ya he looked good i'll give u that. but fight someone good, fight a contender like valuev, povetkin, or brock, **** id even respect a win over ray austin. but to keep beating pieces of **** and then people try to say that your at number one contender status is re-god-damn diculous.

Because it's sad seeing someone who used to be great fooling nobody but themselves.

I like Evander, and think he was a great fighter. And, if he wants to keep fighting at some level then that's up to him.

But right now, guys like Jeremy Bates and Lou Saverese are his level.

He would have a decent shot at Maskaev which wont happen since Peter will beat Oleg...I think he could beat Sultan Ibragimov, but Chagaev will beat him first. As for Klitschko, no way. So you may be right, after these next few months, his chances are growing slimmer. But never count Evander out.

first of all you see that guy in my avatar thats oleg maskaev after he knocked out rahman for the 2nd time! maskaevs no scrub. and sultan is way too good for holyfield right now. he would knock him out or if not knockout he would definitely get a lospided unanimous decision. don't get it twisted. maskaev and sultan are way more than a step above holyfields recent opponents, they are about a a mile above. holyfield isnt what he was when he beat tyson. let me see him beat someone better than a guy who made a career of being a journeymen and whos biggest win was over a washed up buster douglas...

Make no mistake, I would favor every champion over Evander (especially Wladimir), but Chagaev, Ibragimov, and Maskaev are not invincible. And in these days where the changing of title belts seems to be routine, you cannot count Holyfield out who is still in great shape, still has skill, still can take a punch, and still has heart.

ok i will agree with you on that. and im not in any way saying holyfield absolutely doesnt have a shot at beating one of the title holders. all im saying is the recent hype he has been recieving he isn't really worthy of. he has been impressive, but until i see him beat someone current who is good then i dont really consider him a real threat to the champions in the heavyweight division.

Good points....Bates, Maddalone, Oquendo, and Savarese are not enough to convince me to make him a favorite over any title holder. I would like to see him against Lamon Brewster, although I doubt it would ever happen. Calvin Brock might not be a bad matchup for Evander right now either.

No way can he beat Vlad, that is just common sense. Ibragimov, no, Chagaev, no, Vitali, no...........
