I'm a huge RJJ fan so don't think I'm bias against him BUT..... the reason he got KO'd was because he has lost that amazing gift of being able to react at light speed. For a guy who's whole style of fighting relies on quick reflexes and the ability to react.....once it's gone it don't come back regardless of how many rounds you get under your belt. The guy needs to change his style to deal with his fading skills.
have U seen his last 2 fights?...he fights in the Peek a Boo/ turtle shell defense....and counters out of that position....Calzaghe will get countered to death all night...I love how people just think Joe C is some beast that is gonna PUMMELL RJJ:huh .....this is a statement fight and RJJ will thrive on that and OWN Joe C.....
I wish I shared your enthusiasm, but I think your watching too many old tapes of RJJ and not enough recent fights of his. The Tito fight was a pretty good performance, but Tito has become a part time boxer over the last few years and is clearly past his prime as well, not only that, but he fought Jones way outside his normal weight. Jones might give Hopkins a couple tough rounds, but he wont be able to sustain that type of workrate for long, Calzaghe can. Jones will take the first 2 rounds, but after that Jones will start to find it harder to counter and it will become apparent Jones is over his head in this match, aside from an early knockout, Jones' chances are very slim.
You should have read Kirk's post, thought about it, then given up this silly premise. Jones is totally and irreversibly shot. The fact that he went 36 rounds with the likes of the Prince, Hanshaw and a bloated and shot Trinidad tells you all you need to know, and that's ignoring his KO defeats. I'm as big a Roy Jones fan as there is, but he's an old man who used to rely on athleticism and no longer has his legs. Like Kirk, I don't blame Calzaghe for taking this fight -- he's entitled to seek out the best paydays -- but let's be honest about what it is.
Hate for this fight is hate for Calzaghe. Jones-Trinidad was accepted as legit pretty much universally (I remember the majority of people giving me absolute hell for suggesting it was on the same level as Mayorga-Vargas), give or take a few grumbles here and there.
this is a funny post...well in that case Hopkins was waaaaaaaaay outside his weight fighting Joe C right?....weight has nothing to do with it....ROY went from 160 to HW and won a title...please have Joe C go fight a HW..... Calzaghe was getting hit ALLLLLL NIGHT with right hands against slow old B Hop....Roy Jones is gonna have Target Practice...Joe C fights with his hands down with no sense of defense and he doesnt put alot of power behind his punches...... Im sorry my friend but YOU will see the difference between an ATG and a Long reigning champion come fight night
Jons went 36 rounds to TEST his body out and get acustom back to the lhw division..he knows he made the jump up and down to fast. 36 solid rounds to see if his body could still perform at the elite level....He Carried all 3 fighters in those fights....Did u NOT see the tito fight?..Roy landed at will and couldve KO'ed tito at any point in the fight....pleas go watch again...ON BOTH KNOCKDOWNS once tito got up he was on ***** street and ROY backed off and allowed him to regain his composure.....
The fact is . . . nobody can please everybody. It shows like hate . . . I'll say it's just a normal reaction by people who would rather see Pavlik fight JC instead of Jones. :yep
No... i would say very good win for jones, and he proved me wrong... my 'jibberish' was in exact responce to your thread and has nothing to do with a 'what if' scenario :huh .. :blood ..
Dont you be silly dumbass. How are ya Smazz?:good :hi: (no i dont know what the threads about, come back from the pub and jumb on the ESB bandwagon and look for your mates, thats my motto ):thumbsup
