Ok he did make an ass of himself for his comments regarding the tournement which i think is one of the best things that has happened for the sport in years,But Pavlik is a middleweight didnt have a good time of it when he did move up,Wanted the AA fight but hes now moved up and now hes fighting the guy alot of people have in there top 10 p4p list and reckon is the most ducked fighter in the game today so i cant see were this hate is coming from when a year ago everyone was on his nuts on here.

He's way underrated now. Before Hopkins he was universally overrated. Now he's a complete bum, or so people act. The woes of ESB.

Had a chance to fight Abraham but constantly turned it down with pathetic excuses only to consider a fight with Sturm...

The division has hit rock bottom since he became champion and it's not getting any better especially if they find a way to turn down a fight with Williams.

i think the hate word is over used on here.i think alot of posters are just highly disapointed and frustrated how kellys career is going.i used to enjoy watching kelly pavlik fights he has a very exciting style..:good
but i see him being just like terry norris exciting to watch against overmatched and smaller fighters.but when the most exciting and big fights are in the next division terry norris didnt take the step up to show how good or bad he would fare and maybe cementing his legacy in the process,i just see kelly dominating in a weak middleweight division, and none of us any wiser to how good really is kelly pavlik..........

I think the tourney and Calzaghe comments have hurt his reputation. Personally, I'm still pissed he never fought Abraham but I accept that that probably has more to do with Arum than Pavlik. Anywho, He's still a good fighter and he's still taking on challenges so I won't hate him for that:good.

I'm old enough to remember when Arguello lost to Marcel in his first bid for a world title. Alexis was just a scrawny slugger who would never amount to much. He did not have the skills to beat a decent boxer.

I also remember when Little Red lost a title eliminator to Chacon, and then lost a couple fights he should have won. He was just a hype job with a good right hand.

In fact, I'm old enough to remember when Cassius Marcelus Clay was just a loud mouth punk that Sonny Liston was going to annihilate.

Moral of the story? Don't stress.

I think there's a lot of "hate" for Kelly because fans were psyched (overly so) when he first blew up on the scene and seemed like the kind of champ that could transcend boxing and cross-over to the general public. The way he got totally shown up be B-Hop and then made excuses and went on to duck any real opponents turned people off. I'm curious to see how he rebounds. I hope the Paul Williams fight comes off. Facing a highly regarded champion is the only way he can earn the fans back. But can he ever deal with an opponent with real boxing skills now that B-Hop has given them all the blueprint how to fight him?

Hating on Pavlik is nothing new. It's been going on for years. The fact that he kept winning everytime people predicted his demise pissed a lot of people off. After the loss to Hopkins they now have justification for bad mouthing him.

As for the comments about the tourney, consider the facts. Sauerland built the Abraham myth around the illusion that Pavlik ducked AA. It sure as hell wasn't based on victories over LuJaun Simon and Mahir Oral. Nor was it based on wins over McKart and Joval's left overs. Abraham and two unproven prospects were invited to the tournament. Pavlik was not. Sauerland could not allow Pavlik in because his presence would completely destroy the abra-monster mythology. KP was justifiably pissed off. I would be too.

If Abraham had any balls, he would have insisted that Pavlik be invited, and be his first fight. Abraham made no such demands, and instead opted to fight a two time Pavlik victim who lost 3 of his last 4 fights. That tells us everything we need to know about who ducked who.

he got a schooling and a beatdown by hopkins, which raises doubts about his ability.

he has the nerve to critisize other fighters, for taking chances and fighting for peanuts. A tournament anyone with a peanut brain should like, if he or she is interested in the sport, pavliks comment ,made him seem greedy and only fighting for money. Us fans would like to live under the illusion, that our heroes only does for pride.

    the AA debate.

Im certainly no hater when it comes to pavlik, but i think those 3 points a very valid, when fans want to debate pavlik and critisize him.
