It’s fairly common knowledge that Brook wanted a big fight, hence the “desire” to get in the ring with ggg. From that he lost at 147 to Spence, and Hearn stated that it was basically because Brook wasn’t a natural 147 fighter. Now he’s stating that he believes Brook’s career is at 147. In the same interview Hearn does state that the level of opposition after becoming champion was below par, but justified it because of the attack. I don’t know. I don’t mind Brook; he is a good fighter, but he’s a cut below the very best.
Hearn throwing Krook to the wolves (Golovkin) was poor matchmaking, too. Brook did well until he got destroyed, but it wasn't a wise career move for fighter or promoter, as he would have stood a better chance at Spence and others at 147 without that. Not saying he would have won, and he took too long to step up - feels like he was around forever as a kid not quite competing at the top - but if he did reach the top, a Golovkin type fight could have been a last cash in risk, rather than a mid/late career punt that impacted him badly in many ways. Equal parts bravery, equal madness.
He's British. That's basically it. He deserves massive respect for his skills and that he is willing to fight the likes of GGG (after which frankly Brook was never really the same even though he did really well in that fight) and Spence.
