Over on facebook on several boxing sites there all slating fury and saying how wank he is etc. I think he performed not his best but he got the job done. Peter wasn't there which he obviously missed. Folks forget tyson is a lot younger than the likes of david price and haye etc. I think its the way he acts that makes folks throw the hatred towards him . I personally like it boxing needs characters like him.
There are two kinds of people in this world, Mike. People who love Tyson Fury, and people who don't understand Tyson Fury.
He only fought that way because he was fighting a cruiser. So he got all macho and sloppy as a result.
He wasn't as good as he has been recently. Clearly Cunningham is a good mover and is fast at heavyweight which can draw mistakes but Fury didn't really perform. I thought he'd made significant improvements to his balance and overall approach in recent outings but this was a a step back in terms of performance level which was important in a fight like this. People wanted to see a good performance and a KO in his big outing against a cruiser who is fragile and we only got one of those. Not the end of the world, but he needs to be a little more consistent. If he's that sloppy against somebody like Boytsov which was a mooted fight he's going to be sparked out.
Do you think Peter not being aloud into the country last minute and not being in tysons corner affected tyson mentally ?
He can't box to a game plan, is chinny and is massively overrated by his fans. Put him in the ring with a proper HW and he will get knocked out. He's entertaining though, I'll give you that.
the way he was acting in round 1 against a comparatively tiny opponent (3 stone lighter) shouting at him, shoving him, banging his chest acting like a bully etc, was a bit disgraceful, hagler wouldnt have acted like that if he was fighting a bantam. i was laughing when the little fighter flopped the bully on his back in round 2. the k.o was right on the brink of legality and that singing episode was ... well ... er... what was it? it was like watching the twilight zone. entetaining? yes, in the same way as the early x factor auditions are entertaining.
not a prayer,he was in big trouble when he had every advantage going. To me he set up the KO with a foul as well. He isn't world title material. Good to watch though!
Couldn't agree more with the above, i just don't see him being anything special TBH. Once he comes up against a proper heavyweigh who is half decent he's going down and not getting back up. I think his nephew is a much better prospect.
Completely agree he has maximum entertainment value and if you don't appreciate that then boxing is not your sport
The fact he had served over 5 years in prison. But he was told by someone high up (fat mick?) that it wouldn't be a problem only to be refused entry last minute.
