calzaghe agreed to fight hopkins in america in 2002. between 1998 and 2008 - who do you think that calzaghe should have been chasing to fight in america, at what weight, and in what year?

the hopkins victory shouldn't be belittled either, hopkins was a universally recognised top 5 p4p fighter at the time, in the middle of his best run of victories in his entire career, and has never lost 4 years since.

not only did calzaghe move up weight and fight the best 175 fighter in his 1st fight at the weight, he also did it in a foreign country, with a corrupt foreign referee and 3 foreign judges. its hard to ever imagine jones jnr taking a string of chances like that whilst still a champion.
