I provided it as an example of a journalists opinion back in 2005, to show that people have been calling Roy out on his antics for years now atsch
It's going to happen to Mayweather when he retires. He is still going to be hated and the hate will cloude peoples judgment. These people who suck off joe calzaghe have nothing better to do then to make RJJ hate post/threads, when Joe Calzaghe's resume is one of the weakest ever, where as RJJ resume is head and shoulders above it and is really good.
No Boxing expert is going to tell you anything different about how weight cutting works. Sorry again nuthugger.
no it won't happen to mayweather because a) mayweather is not a proven drugs cheat b) mayweather does not own a glass jaw c) mayweather has beat lineal champions d) mayweather can adapt his style, he has a plan B e) mayweather raises his game when faced with adversity, he doesn't fold like a lawn chair.
Metal, I don't know what you don't understand about the weight? Roy cuts from 190 to 175. then rehydrates from 175 to about 182. So by your logic that's only 8 pounds difference from his 190 walking around weight, to his 182 rehydration weight. But what you're not taking into consideration is, Roy out of camp, at 190 pounds, isn't trained and ready to fight. But when he's had 6 weeks of hard training to go from 190 to 175, when he then rehydrates back to 182, he's fit and strong. That's my point! 190 walking around weight is only 8 pounds from his 182 rehydration weight after he's hit 175 for the weigh in. But despite only a difference of just 8 pounds, Roy's rehydration weight at 182 from is completely different from his physique at 190 The difference in actual weight is hardly anything, but the difference in his body is huge! Mackie Shiltstone got Roy to slim from 190 to around 180 ish. When Roy hit that weight, he bulked up to 193! He didn't rehydrate with fluids like a normal fight, he just started building mass. When he hit 193 he was a solid 193. He only had a month off after Ruiz. Then he ran to burn off the muscle. He didn't run to burn off excess fat, like he would have done at his normal 190 walk around weight, he burnt of all his muscle fibres. I can see how you've worked your sums out, but you're not taking into consideration his physique. Do a bit of research and get back to me. There's only you that says he only had to lose 7 pounds of muscle. He was ripped at 193 for Ruiz. He was ripped at 174 for Tarver. Where's the 7 pounds that he lost? It's common knowledge that he lost around 20 pounds of muscle to come back.
Mayweather has never fought a hall of famer in their prime ! Most lineal champs are the weakest of the divisions ! Mayweather is a standout against C level figheters Ie: Gatti ! Mayweather only faces adversity when his opponents are either not on his level or are shot :good And Mayweather would just buy the lawn chair instead of fighting for one :good
Where my posts have contained opinions, I've made it clear. Where I've used scientific irrefutable facts, I've made it clear. Glass jaw is a term that's been used by boxing fans, journalists and analysts for years. You seem upset by it, is it because it just so happens your hero has one? :deal As for those comparing RJJ to Mayweather, get out of here, there's no comparison. Mayweather is lightyears ahead of Roy Jones, he's a far superior fighter, who's shown much more courage than Jones ever did. Mayweather is a credit to the sport
There has never been scientific irrefutable facts stated by anyone who is a Calzaghe fan ! Its all opinion .. I have read your posts and come up with the conclusion that your facts are opinions .. And Mayweather is light yrs ahead of Roy how so ? By beating a bunch of fringe contenders ? What were you impressed by his schooling of Hatton or Gatti ? Or how he outweighed Marquez ? I mean really ? Who are you kidding with that ? And I have never heard the term glass jaw used from any respected journalists ..Only opionated fan boys who happen to write articles on boxing web sites use that term .. I wonder if Bert Sugar or Howard Cosel ever had a glass jaw list .. And he's not my hero but for some reason he gets so much disrespect but its mostly opinion ..Not facts ! And he HAS shown much more courage ? Against who ? Beaten fighters or old ones ? Wait are we talken Joe Calzaghe or Floyd I find it funny that the fans of the guys with fluffiest records have opinions on fighters who actually took risks and who fought more than once a year !
Mayweather has beaten the best in numerous divisions, proving he was the man at that weight. Jones was never #1 at any weight he fought at. Only in phony US media driven "P4P" rankings did he ever reach #1.
