Because Cotto, as well as obviously being a good fighter, in the parlance of todays youth, is 'cool as ****'
Cos he's a respectful man that commands respect. The way he dealt with Margo put him way up in my estimations.
loved every minute of that fight. nothing better than seeing a jumped up little **** get a beating. :yep
I admire Miguel Cotto as a an and a fighter. I really view him as an undefeated fighter because of the criminal acts of Margarito and the cheating by Top Rank, Bob Arum and Pacman that made him fight Pacman handicapped. I have said it before and I will say it again if I had a son and he boxed I would want him to go about his business just like Miguel Cotto. I am looking forward to his fight with PB F which I don 't think he will win but that is because PBF is the best of the very best whilst Cotto is one of the best.
this! I agree with some of the earlier great posts from skillspaysbills, df taylor etc but i really do think that its Cotto is so cool, which on top of his other qualities makes him a man we would all like to be like (no homo) :good
Shane said he'd go to 140 to make the fight, this was just before Mosley signed to fight Floyd. It wasn't on the table when he signed to fight the Filipino.
Back in 2009 Shane wanted Pacquiao and Roach wanted him down at 142, 143.... when he asked why they'd do Oscar at 147 and not him, Roach admitted ''your better, that's why''. The vid was on YT somewhere, it's one of those amateur vids where the guy (in this case Freddie) is just talking to be polite. Edit.... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBWNOyrHKKo[/ame] Think this is it.
I think it was Pryor's crew that put the point across that Leonard didn't fancy it because Pryor used to give him a hard time in sparring. Would have been good if the fight had happened but it wasn't as if Leonard was fighting clowns and talking big, after that the eye went.... no fight. Well, good for everyone apart from Pryor :hey
I think it has something to do with fans remembering their first impression of him as a fighter. In his early career he was seen as one hell of a fighter, his style was a little intimidating and would just quietly hunt you down. Throw in the fact he seemed very humble only added to his attraction to fans. Personally ... i dont think hes reached the heights his early days would have suggested he might, but its very hard to remove such a quality early impression of a fighter.
