The guy is a 2 time heavyweight champion and never backs out of a challenge. Lets look at his last few fights since the Nog fight... Against Lesnar at UFC 100 and Carwin, he made a mistake and packed on 20 pounds of muscle and attempted to fight both Lesnar and Carwins fight and paid the price.. Since he's navigated away from matching strength with bigger guys he's become more of a tactician systematically breaking opponents down and taking away their gameplan. His striking is getting better and his Muay Thai is becoming a key weapon along with his bjj. I still see him as a top heavyweight and will continue to do so until THIS version of Mir loses again.

I'm a Mir fan but his performances have been a bit **** recently. Win or lose he doesn't look the same fighter he was a while back.

I think he's suited for about 240-245.....the 270 weight is way to much even for a 6'3 Mir. His body isn't that big.

i agree. he keeps evolving and patching the holes in his game.
I just wish hed put his nose to the grindstone and get himself into REAL shape and stop relying so much on ability to see him through. there is no substitute for hard work sometimes

He sometimes suffers from "BJ Penn syndrome." Probably the most naturally talented heavyweight in the world yet doesn't always put 100% into his fights. With the Cro Cop and Nelson victory I hope his confidence is restored and he keeps improving.

I thought Mir looked good in the Nelson fight. He's starting to smooth out the rough edges of his identity as a mixed martial artist.

i think mir has a pretty crap gas tank now since he bulked up in the fight with brock at UFC 100 he looked more ripped and seemed to have better mobility so i think he should cut back to that weight that he was at UFC 100 (sorry i dont exactly know what weight that was) but yea i think he could get another shot at the title if he improves his cardio. Frank mir looked really gassed against big country last night and i was not really impressed by his performance or maybe it was due to the fact that roy nelson has a granite chin.

Thats why I'm not really enjoying his fights. Frank is fighting more to his opponents weakness than his strengths. He does it well but it's not great to watch if I'm honest. Very well rounded these days but needs to show it against one of the big men.
