I think the Irish traveler environment would build better fighters then the hood or the projects. I think people underestimate the toughness of these travelers when comparing them to American farmer types or the gang banger types.

There's no question about his toughness, there's a huge question about his punch resistance. Two very different things.

If you get dropped hard by 2 relatively light hitters and wobbled by another, while you're expected to mix it up soon with the top5 of the division, then there's an issue.

Tyson's tough as nails. Weak chin though

didnt he start a brawl with Chisora before their upcoming fight, and made Chisora run away and call his guards?

Funny dynamic how Tyson bitched Chisora around, and how Chisora bitched the Klitschko's around

No one is ****ing superman. If a punch lands right you are going over. It's that simple.

He has weak chin, little power, no athleticism , low ring IQ and he's just as annoying as amir khan . His younger cousin looks a lot better.

"Some" peoples questions him because they perceive his great potential, and they are envy.

I don't question his toughness, just his boxing ability.

he's so tough he had to start hugging a 40 lbs lighter Cunningham so he wouldn't get dropped again... yeah, talk about being tough

    Oh C'mon.

There's a strong cultural fighting tradition within the travelling community, which is unsurprising given that living outside the expected norms of 'settled' society is always gonna attract hostility.

Hardship tends to foster and reward toughness and fighting spirit. You are correct about that. Though it's quite impossible to extrapolate that tendency to the qualities of an individual fighter.

Thing is though, Luke is no more a traveller than he is 6'9" (or however tall he's saying he is this week). He lived on static sites in childhood, now and for many years has lived in house, and has no particular ties to the wider travelling community.

He is a great self-publicist however, and well aware of how many people have seen Snatch. Being a 'gypsy' sells well for Fury - and good for him.

When people question his toughness it's more because he has been badly rocked and floored by much smaller guys. It's because he really isn't much of a boxer, and without his size and truly remarkable capacity for self hype, he simply wouldn't be talked about at all.

What do you you think he is if he isn't a traveller? There are lots of settled travellers, doesn't stop them being travellers.

You'd also have to be crazy to think being an Irish traveller is good for his popularity. He'd be earning much bigger money if he was accepted by everyone as a proper English/Manchester fighter. As an undefeated young Manchester heavyweight in the top 10 of the world he'd be looking at massive money.

Wlad was holding 200 pound Chambers so what does that make him? If Fury was not from the UK you would be taking up for him.

Im not Fury's biggest fan but...

How does he not have power.

he probably hits harder than Haye tbh, Haye's not once put a man out cold and people compare his power to Sam Peter.

His punch resistance is not the problem, watch his footwork at the time of the Kd's, he also gets up and recovers easily.
