Alvarez takes way too many punches. He'll be marketed and groomed to be "great", but in actuality he never will. The first time he fights a legit 154 pounder he'll lose.
Great chin, throws amazing combo's, still very young, undefeated, good stamina, good power.......yeah he's doomed.
Canelo is still very young, and he hasn't had that "eye opening" bout, wherein a fierce & talented opponent makes him realize his undeniable (to us) defensive weaknesses. Actually, Lopez may have been the first, even though he couldn't hurt Canelo. I think that Alvarez believes, in his own mind, that he is invincible, and this probably affects his training dedication. He's not slow, he just doesn't seem to care about defense very much. A devastating loss, which is surely on the horizon, will make him a much better fighter. ---------- Having said that, he did show some slight improvement last night in head movement. Also, of course, his offense just keeps getting better & better. I'm not a Canelo fan, yet, but I can see big things for him if he starts to really listen to his trainer & takes his defense more seriously.
He didn't respect Lopez' power so he went after him where he did a fine job on the defensive vs. Mosley. It's called adaptability, the fastest way to victory here was taking chances, and he dominated every single round with ease. So there you have it. Not the best reflexes, but he has good defense, just none of that was necessary vs. Josesito.
Never been hit solid by a big puncher, so how the **** do we know that? Canelo has too many flaws to ever be a GREAT fighter IMO, but I'll admit, he's a lot more talented than I once thought he was. His combination punching is honestly his best asset. He is a very well schooled offensive fighter, and his power is legit. He's FARRR more talented than the punching bag known as Junior.
Wrong. He's good. I dunno' about great, but the potential is there. You're just a (excuse my use of the vernacular) h8a
