Took Wilder 2 attempts to finish a 38 year old Ortiz, so no guarantee he lands the right hand Wlad did, let alone be able to finish him there and then.

But if Wilder does hurt Joshua he better finish him there and then, an old Ortiz didn't have the engine to capitalise on a hurt Wilder, I doubt Joshua will have the same issues if he's allowed back into the fight. As the Wlad and Whyte fights showed, when Joshua catches his 2nd wind he's very dangerous.

Apologies for changing the topic ever so slightly, but do you think Joshua goes for the KO as in the Wlad fight, or boxes safety first behind his jab a la the Parker fight?

For me AJ would have to fight mid to close range against Wilder, Wilder like CST mentioned is too awkward and in order for Joshua win, i think he would have to ''dog him''.

A underrated element of AJ is how he slips under punches when he is up close against a guy.
Example for this is before the second knockdown against Breazeale. @46:52

Another prime example is in the Klitschko fight. @1.02:30

Based off his fights he doesn't. Parker landed regularly on Takam, who is nothing special and as has a weak chin, but couldn't put a dent in him. While Povetkin easily ended Takam and had him on his back. Wilder would walk right through a scrub like Takam.

Against Andy Ruiz Parker landed flush left hooks and right hands on Ruiz all fight and barely walked away with a decision. Several years ago Ruiz had the chance to fight Wilder and wisely avoided that fight, since Wilder would Ruiz knew he would get knocked out.

Also, you called Parker fast, which he isn't. He couldn't cut the ring off on Hughie Fury, who is featherfisted and a total novice compared to Wilder. Parker hand speed is average at best. He had a giant lumbering and slow 240lb Joshua, who was wide open for counters. Where was Parker's handspeed to capitalize?

Stiverne from the first Wilder fight would've been countering Joshua's head off with the way Joshua walks in with his hands so low.

Also, Ortiz would've did a job on Joshua and took that WBA belt off him and Hearn knew, which why Joshua and Hearn shamelessly ducked Ortiz despite Ortiz letting them take the Wlad fight. Wlad was a much easier fight than Ortiz would've been.

Experience of fighting 2nd rate opposition, how is that an advantage?

Both fighters can win this fight. Both fighters have shown vulnerability. However, AJ has fought the tougher competition. He is more fundamentally sound. I would make AJ a 2-1 favorite.

I don't think he'll go in there looking to blow him out quickly unless an opportunity presents itself. He's gradually become more cautious and measured in his approach. Even vs Wlad he boxed behind the jab early on and gradually built the tempo.

He won't try and jump Wilder in case he walks into a counter like Ortiz did. He'll set the pace behind his jab and slowly raise the intensity. But he will go for the KO at some point.

Yes, good points. But there is a difference, vs Wlad at several points he turned the heat up and went for it, whereas vs Parker he never made even one comparable attack. I do think he needs to go for the KO at some point, trying to dance out of trouble for 12 rounds doesn't seem the best strategy to me.

On paper I like AJ more than Wilder , however, lately I've considered the crazy punches Wilder throws and realized he will Hit Joshua in the head.

Joshua needs to get Wilder out of there early rounds. If he lets Wilder stay in the fight for 6, 7 , 8 rounds it increases the odds Wilder lands a big right hand and at that point in the fight Joshua will be too tired to weather the ensuing windmill storm.

I favor Joshua, but it would not surprised me if Wilder pulled off an upset ko or lost despite having knocked down AJ at some point. Could even be one of those fights that both guy's visit the carpet.

This might be the safest way for AJ, because you are right, he will probably deserve more rounds than Wilder and will CERTAINLY be awarded more rounds. BUT, Willder often seems to take his time and eventually time his opponents, scoring a massive ko. While AJ is vastly better than Washington, if AJ is too cautious, I could see Wilder pulling something similar with him; being massively outscored but then getting a huge stoppage. If I was AJ, I'd probably try to end the match early and bum rush him. Take the risk of getting caught, but avoid the possibility Wilder finds his range early.

AJ should be the favorite, but there is risk in either scenario. Wilder is a live dog.
