Why are Ali and Leanard underrated in a ATG ranking sense?

I don't know about Tunney, but in Walker's and Langford's cases, all you have to do is simply take a look at their respective resumes - Walker's/Langford's takes a sh!t all over Ali's/Leonard's.

Having said that, I usually have Ali just inside my top 10, and Leonard just outside of it.

One major shortcoming in Leonard's case as compared to the other ATGs is the relatively small number of fights he had.

    no they don't

I believe Sam Langfords resume is better but it does'nt **** on them as you put it.

Ali's and Leonard's resumes are every bit as good if not better than Mickey Walkers resume.

    Walker's resume:

    Jack Britton (HOF WW champ)
    Dave Shade (leading WW contender)
    Pete Latzo (future WW champ)
    Lew Tendler (HOFer)
    Jock Malone (MW contender)
    Mike McTigue (LHW champ)
    Sailor Friedman (WW contender)
    Tiger Flowers (HOF MW champ)
    Tommy Milligan (MW contender)
    Paul Berlenbach (HOF LHW champ)
    Tony Marullo (LHW contender)
    Ace Hudkins (MW contender)
    Leo Lomski (LHW contender)
    Armand Emanuel (LHW contender)
    Johnny Risko (HW contender)
    Bearcat Wright (HW contender)
    King Levinsky (HW contender)
    Paulino Uzcuden (HW contender)
    Arthur De Kuh (HW contender)
    Maxie Rosenbloom (HOF LHW champ)
Plus his draw with Jack Sharkey (HOF HW champ)

Keeping in mind that he beat some of these fighters multiple times, and including a 1st round KO of LHW champ McTigue :)shock:), on what basis do you believe Ali or Leonard's resumes are "as good or better"?

Listen I'm not going to be telling you anything you don't already know,( I assume you already know there resume) as your are not telling me anything i don't know about Walker,

I give just my main reason, Frazier, Foreman and Liston 1 are more impressive single victorys than any of Walkers wins added to the fact that he defeated any contender worth mentionong of the greatest era ever in heavyweight, and Leonard being the first man to beat both all time great undefeated Wilfred Benitez & Thomas Hearns and then coming out of a 3 year retirement to end the then reigning number 1 Pd 4 Pd Marvin Haglers 7 year title reign .

"Robinson" was stopped at least twice and u can erase at least 1 of his KO wins . His resume is still impressive if u fully trust that it does not need more corrections than what i mentioned .
Then remember that he was d giant in almost every single fight that he had , and while he carried Armstrong , I don't think he carried Angott 10rds*3 . Yes , he is a top 20 all time p4p , but #1 ? no . He may be d #1 @ 147 and a top 10 @ 160 still , but p4p is a different story with different criteria . There is no p4p greatness @ being a giant beating midgets . It proves very little .

As 4 Roy he was never d best of his generation as he never fought d best while @ their best .
No McClellan (he said he would never after McClellan owned his azz while both amateurs) , no Nunn , Liles either .
Should i repeat d stories about those he fought ?
    I guess i should make a thread dedicated 2 Roy Jones as well , 2 end it once n 4 all .

Ali vs Holmes is totally irrelevant and considering it this way actually works in d favor of your argument about him . Ali took on almost every1 but whenever he lost , didn't win , or was about 2 badly lose , there were always d King , Dundee , Islamist and possibly other factors as well coming 2 his rescue .
    There u go :

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=211663
Now find 1 mistake @ any of my posts there .
Norris' win over Leonard is irrelevant , where was Norris @ age 35 ?
How do u think a fight between 2002 Terry Norris and 2002 Jermain Taylor would have gone like ? or 2002 Sergio Martinez ? or 2003/4 Kasim Ouma ? how would a 35 years old Norris do against them ?
how good did a prime Norris do against a post prime Simon Brown ?
answer : Norris could never deal with Taylor's/Ouma/Martinez' speed .
How do u think a 42 years old (only 2 years ago) Norris would have done against a 2007 Shane Mosley ?

These just equate Leonard's showings vs Norris&Camacho .

On this forum,I find that Ali and Leonard are given their just dues in a pound for pound criteria. Most of us would have Ali in our top 5,and Leonard between 10 - 20.

    1. Hardly anyone considered Hagler past prime and Hagler was a massive favourite coming in

    2. Didn't he offer 1 if Hagler admitted he lost

    3. Pryor turned down career high money to face Ray

    4. Why isn't fighting a bigger champion an achievement? And then coming back and fighting WBC MW Champ Duran an achievement? I would have liked to have seen him try and clean out MW against Nunn, McCallum, Kalambay and Graham

    5. WOuld be nice but he did suffer the detached retina and he rematched HEarns

    6. There was an immediate rematch with Duran, if he had gone for the rubber there may have never been Hearns-Leonard at WW
