    for example-
Old man Bore-nard (lost twice to the very ordinary Taylor)
Mosley-Classy fella, but lost twice to Vernon Forrest of all people!!
    Oscar-Years past his best
Winky-Wake me up when it's over
    Jones-Utterly brilliant last century
    Tarver-Garbage

......when they have exciting young champs like Mayweather,Pavilk and Dawson? :huh

I'd say Mosley is still a man in the present. He's in good shape, can crack, and still has world class speed, reflexes.

Hopkins is a fading fighter, but still a world class one whose caginess and slickness can cause troubles for a lot of young fighters.

K2Gay, you really are a clown. Yes, I want Hatton to win because Mayweather is a brilliant fighter. The only contradiction is in your head

K2Gay-I'm quite happy for posters to disagree with me but you make absolutely no sense whatsoever and quite frankly I'm tired of reading your drivel, especially as this is frequently racist. So you are the first poster I've ever added to my ignore list. This means whatever either racist or meaningless nonsense you write I shall not be able to read it!!!

So Pavlik and Dawson deserve more respect than the others who have done so much for the sport? :huh

its stupid posts like this that keep me from reading ESB threads anymore.

why does it always have to be a UK-USA thing?

And the answer to your question:

ALL THE FIGHTERS YOU MENTIONED HAVE ESTABLISHED SOLID HALL OF FAME CREDENTIALS. Every fighter works their whole lives hoping to achieve such, and as an American fan (who doesnt necessarily like any of the fighters you mentioned) i enjoy watching them build their legacies and carve their own niches in the history books. I watched most of them fight since their amateurs. It's not because i'm American, it's because i'm a boxing fan, and i love boxing history being made. As for Dawson and Pavlik, i want to see them establish more than just a one division alphabet trinket or so.

Fair enough. I acknowledge your answer, although i still find it puzzling why the Seniors Tour is more popular than the fighters at the top of their game.

With regard to UK v USA, I didn't mention a single UK fighter.:huh

I wan't talking about respect. I was wondering why fighters that are clearly years past their prime are the fighters most Americans seem to want to watch, rather than those in or approaching their prime. It's like a British fan getting all excited about a Howard Eastman fight rather than a David Haye fight

I think its not that we are obsessed with "has been" fighters as much as the damn media keeps force feeding them to us. HBO and Showtime are the ones that keep digging these guys up. Keep in mind free network TV no longer shows boxing anymore. ABC, CBS and NBC (but NBC's fights usually sucked) use to air boxing on Saturday afternoons, that way the average Joe could actually learn about a fighter and start following his career. Unfortunately that doesn't happen anymore.
