why are all boxing fans making excuses by saying it wasn't a fair fight and toney should have been matched against a mma fighter with only a couple fight. I think that would be a unfair match up if toney fought a mma fighter with a couple fights. Toneys boxing experience has to count for something when you match him up. Today a point was proven, it doesn't matter how hard you punch, when your on your back getting choked out your mouth and punching power doesn't mean ****. Why do boxing fans have a problem with mma? yet i find most mma fans respect boxing and it history. I love both boxing and mma they are both very different sports but today we realised a mma fighter is superior to a boxer.
Funny seeing what's happening now, remember when Mercer and Sylvia fought the MMA forum was **** for weeks.
its only a small minority of boxing fans who are dopes and cant allow their minds to indulge in mma, i believe its down to the fact that boxing has taken the back seat in USA in combat sports and it hurts for some people, if you love boxing it shouldnt really bother you, no matter how popular mma gets ill still always be able to compete in boxing and it aint going nowhere end of or as the great james toney would say boxing aint going nowhere........period
because they're insecure, they can't handle another combat sport being popular so they **** on it at every opportunity
Pride. I love MMA, Boxing, Muay Thai and all forms of combat. Even if I don't think they are THAT effective like Wing Chun and Aikido I still really enjoy them and study them to take certain skills and ideas from those art forms. PS - In fairness, Toney is not the best person to represent boxing. He is old and fat. Randy is old but he looks after himself. Even if you said Hopkins (with his lack of pwoer) was going into MMA then I would have a higher belief that X would train hard and learn as much as he could.
Well no ****ing ****. Obviously you're going to know more if you're in MMA. You just take the guy down and he's yours. Let me say I never commented on this fight beforehand and thought it was stupid. I watched the whole undercard and I respect the sport that you guys love but I didn't like it at all. I found it ugly, boring, mismatched in there and I know people will take offense to that but that's my opinion on it. Toney had NO ground experience. People going on about how MMA ruled Boxing.. It was a ****ing MMA fight. IN MMA RULES. It wasn't Boxing Vs MMA. Now clowns will go on about how MMA rules Boxing which is just stupid. Toney embarassed him and the sport by only getting in there for a ****ing paycheck and he knew it. I like that Randy guy and respected what he said after. He seems like a nice fellow, but this was MMA VS MMA. NOT MMA VS BOXING.
Not it was Boxer Vs. Wrestler in an MMA rules match. Do you know what MMA stands for? Mixed Martial Arts. Toneys martial art is boxing, Randys martial art is wrestling. rules allow for BOTH arts to use there techniques. The boxer got embarrassed, get over it.
I can only see a boxer with quick reflexes going anywhere in MMA. Able to react on his feet at the drop of a hat, doesnt really leave many fighters, a guy like Mayweather would suprise a few MMA fans. Any boxers with kickboxing experience, Klitz bros? Darchinyan will go well if he ever crosses. But, boxers will continue to be up against if they think they can cross over - and not have learnt how to wrestle, etc.
