Why are boxing fans sore losers?

Absolutely.

However, as I rightfully pointed out, had the result gone the other way, the MMA enthusiasts would be showing themselves to be sore as opposed to Toney's ardent support. That's speculative, but I think we all know it to be true. We actually saw quite a few "butt hurt" MMA fans running their mouth after Tim Sylvia was knocked out cold by an aging Ray Mercer.

The thread title suggests that this type of reaction is exclusive to the boxing fan, whereas we all know that not to be true. There are many Boxing fans on this site who respect and admire UFC and Mixed Martial Arts in general.

As a side note, how did you come to the conclusion that Toney was going to lose? Was it his zero experience in the Octagon? :yep

as far as toney losing, it wasn't that i said he would lose, i said couture by rear naked choke in 1

basically i thought couture would shoot and either mount or side control, then toney would give his back in a scramble and get caught

i gave toney too much credit and instead he was just dragged to the cage and choked out without even coming close to an escape

 

I thought Toney might have had a punchers chance until they both closed the distance for the very first time in the fight. He had no idea, completely out of his element. It's frustrating that James Toney would do this too himself. I refuse to believe any man could be so stupid, he must have been motivated purely by financial gain. A pay day. Too bad he had to lose the fight and his dignity to receive it.

Nice analogy. Except they 8 events bit...there are 10 in a decathlon. You must have pretty short decades...

 

The sprinter certainly beats the decathlete in the 100 m,probably the 400 m and maybe the long jump.

So the decathlete wins in 10-3=7 or 10-2=8 events. OK?

 

The problem was a problem of punctuation. When you use a slash like that it usually means "of" not "or". Use a hyphen for clarity "He wins 7-8 events."

 

You said 7/8. This reads as 7 out of 8, as it is a fraction.

 

Oh well. Read it as 7 or 8.

Or have the MMA fans just swept this under the carpet?? Can you imagine an MMA guy beating a former heavyweight champ in a boxing match?? me neither

They are 2 different sports and boxers will never be a success just using they're hands in mma. Toney was a dumbass and we all knew it but to suggest that MMA guys are more complete or in any way superior is absoloute donkey ****. FACT
