This has been brought up many times and is a myth.

Many champions of the old days fought guys from other countries.

It was mostly in the USA but do you really think there were many fighters from other countries that could really challenge the champions who went unrecognized?

The guys who fought were the best. It's not even a matter of country.
If you were good you were gonna get noticed unless your country was closed off.

    USSR for example.

Look at Sugar Ray Robinson's record-he fought guys from 20 other countries & fought many times out of USA

John L Sullivan-the first HW champ fought guys from Italy,New Zealand,England etc

Sugar ray Leonard fought guys from 12 different countries etc

Learn some history before you go trying to discredit great old champs and spouting anti American sentiments.

Since the Berlin Wall fell there have been 33 HW world champions, 8 of those have come from the former USSR. In the division they have had the most success ex-Soviet fighters have produced less than 25% of the titlists.

In the transnational boxing rankings there are as many British fighters in the top10's as all the former USSR nations combined.
