So you mean besides Bob Fitzsimmons (Britain), Ingemar Johansson (Sweden), and Max Schmeling (Germany) who were world champions, what foreign heavyweight boxers competed with Americans?

Well, there was Primo Carnera the Italian who fought Joe Louis. There was Karl Mildenberger from Germany in the 60s. Peter Jackson was a major heavyweight from Australia. Joe Bugner was born in Hungary but emigrated to the UK. Henry Cooper from the UK gave Ali a hard fight. George Chuvalo was Canadian. Gerrie Coetzee was South African. Oscar Bonavena was Argentine. Nino Valdez was Cuban. Luis Angel Firpo was Argentine. Paulino Uzcudun was Spanish. Tommy Burns was Canadian.

HHAHA! If the Soviet Union had good fighters back then,we would have heard about them.

European fights today are still generally years behind American fighters. Why do you think they all go to American trainers?

With the exception of a few, most European fighters are straight up stiff fighters who throw the standard 1-2 all day.

American fighters were always very stylized and years ahead.

Even Wladimir Klitschko's best time period was thanks to an American trainer.

    What do you mean?

Boxing has always been world wide it just so happens that the best fighters were American. You think if the USSR had allowed fighters to compete that someone would have come along and beaten Ray Robinson or Cassius Clay? NO! Never would happen.

The best fighters were generally American/Latin American.
    Still to this day.
