I've already conceded that Calzaghe will fight Jones. It isn't what I want, but what are you going to do? It's a money fight, and you can't blame Joe for taking it.

But Joe SAID he will not fight Jones because it would do nothing for his legacy. If he were planning/open to taking a money fight, why wouldn't he just do what every other fighter does and side-step the question and/or *pretend* that it would indeed be a "great name on my resume!" or some similar lie? It doesn't make sense to make the statement he said and then look like, not only a greedy cocksucker, but a LYING one at that. :think

If two shot fighters want to box each other it may aswel be Jones and DM.

this is certainly NOT a winnable fight for DM. it never was and certainly at this point dm chances have even decreased.

it's easier to say you won't do something, then to actually turn it down once the offer for millions is front of you.

fighters can lie and change their minds just like anyone else.

    yup:-(

How many people did he make believe that boxing is boring as hell all those times he was on euro-sport. Great representative for the sport.
Ah what the hell, the promoters made millions, and that's what it's all about, what do they care.

Well, this is a pleasant surprise.

Finally we may get to see the legend of German boxing get his arse handed to him. :yep Ottke did have 2-3 ATROCIOUS decisions on his resume, but overall he was a pretty good boxer (not fighter!).

Ottke will certainly have the German judges behind him on this one and will have every possible edge (they'll probably tell his corner the scorecards in between every round, as they did earlier in his career). DM has to get the KO or he will lose on points.

This fight will make HUGE money in Germany...it will be even bigger than Jones v Trinidad! :admin

But I agree with the thread author, DM and Jones should definitely fight now, if they both plan on continuing their careers. Dariusz is more shot than Jones for sure but at least the fans will get to see what they have been asking for 12 years for.
