In the first place, you should first prove that elite fighters are only rarely stopped by bodyshots. I'm not very sure about if that's true, tbh.
Thanks for the replies. I’ve watched boxing for 25 years and had various thoughts on this. I think it’s probably mostly due to them defending it better and their opponents knowing they will be countered if they throw them much. I’ve seen countless times when elite boxers knock people out with body shots and times elite boxers are knocked out by headshots but just nowhere near as often elite boxers knocked out by body shots. I will bore off now with my silly questions
Most body shot stoppages that come to mind seemed like possible quit jobs. The one exception I can think of is the ko Roy scored over Virgil hill.
Because the damage to the body is done by accumulation , rarely one punch kill shots. You might be able to tough it out with a single brutal body shot landed on you...but a headshot just turns off the lights no matter how tough you are. the best of them break you down with body work....and officially 'KO' you to the head But also, lots of fundamentals are disappearing in today's fight game. Few guys know how to parry shots anymore or punch on the move. To a lesser extent (but growing) is the ability to fight on the inside, and the art of elite jabbing is diminishing. But also I fear that good body work is diminishing ....becuase instead of learning it, it's just deemed too risky.
