Now consider the size of both countries.

Exactly, bro. Terribly clever isn't it?? :-(

But remember, the Brits are sooooo much more erudite and sophisticated than us rubes. :rofl:rofl:rofl

For a country where boxing ain't too big then that's not too bad.

Britain normally has cycles where top fighters come out at certain times, where as America always has a top guy in multiple divisions.

It's a cyclic thing. British boxing at the moment is in a slump.

A few years ago you had Lennox, Ricky and Joe.
Lennox was a good bloke and an ATG heavy.
Joe was a decent bloke, could be a knob at times, and an ATG SMW.
Ricky was a top bloke and also very good.

Now you have Haye, Froch and Khan.
Haye is a ****, and his foray into the heavy division is an embarrassment.
Froch is a bit of a dick, and has half the talent of Joe C. I still think he has balls, but hs recent comments about getting more hometown decisions or retiring make him sound like a whiney ***.
Khan is ok, not the smartest young fella but not a total dick either. He also has talent.

Giving marks out of 10 for a combination of likeability, talent, achievements and contribution to boxing:
    Lewis 10
    Calzaghe 9
    Hatton 9

    compared to:
    Haye 6
    Froch 7
    Khan 7

A little while ago, the popular face of British boxing was an average 9.67 out of 10.
    It's now 6.67.

    /End thread.

As shitty as Bush was(I didn't vote for the ****), your top man was still picking up his newspaper and fluffing him at any chance he could get.

No, it is not. Proportionally or not, we (Americans) have produced far more fighters of relevance than you Brits.

Honestly, it's laughable to even suggest otherwise.

hatton, two weight champion. david haye, two weight champion. amir khan could become a two or more weight world champion.

    jeff lacy
    kelly pavlik

these are guys you lot rated that can't even become world champions in two weight divisions. i could name more such as michael grant and so on, but the list would be too long.

"Like-ability" is entirely irrelevant to the discussion.

As for your rankings, Hatton was never a "9" on any objective scale. Seven? Maybe. Nine? No. Froch, on the other hand, wishes he merited a "seven." Yes, he is courageous and a "man's man" as it were, but he is scarecly talented enough to warrant a "seven." He's a "six" at best. Khan possesses 8+ offensive skills, but his chin is a questionable and his willingness to "put it on the line" remains to be seen.

Lennox, however, was a 10. Of course, about twenty countries claim Lewis. Calz, moreover, was excellent as well.
