There are quite a few threads and posts out there which judging Cotto's performance on Saturday as if the cut was non-existant and a non-factor.

I for one did not completely like how Cotto fought on Saturday as I saw a couple mistakes but i understand although not necessarily like all his tactics.

The bottom line is that the cut affected Cotto's performance and it's unfair to judge his performance last Saturday as if the cut did not play a role.

Only stupid people ingore the cut. It definitely had an effect on Cotto, but I also think he did fine dealing with it and saw most of the punches coming from that direction.

Funny thing is: Cotto had problems in the past seeing left uppercuts coming and Clottey threw a triple left uppercut and Cotto eat all of them. But he perfectly saw the right hook coming and beautifully ducked under it. That was the only punch coming from the cut's direction and he had no problem responding to it.

Again with this cut crap. Why is most people ignoring that take away the knockdown and Clottey won the first 2 rounds before the cut happen? You people act like the cut happen in the beggining of the first round. Cut or not it would still be a close fight. Whoever disagree need to hit themself in the head.

So the first three rounds will dictate how the rest of the fight goes???

Cotto put a perfectly timed jab and put Clottey on his ass. Why should that be taken away?

Most have it 2 rounds to 1 for Cotto in the first 3 rounds.

Most of those that felt that Cotto lost had it something like 114-113. The fight was close by a point or two.

So you without a shadow of a doubt know that the fight will be that close without Cotto pawing at his leading left eye which was bleeding on round 4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11 and 12. You are so sure of because of what you saw in rounds 1,2,3 and want to ignore the KD.

Regardless of the cut, Cotto has been consistent with fading just a little down the stretch against fighter who are stronger or just as strong as himself.

In fights against Margarito,Clotty and Shane, Cotto seem to run out of gas just a little bit down the stretch and in the later rounds seems to take more punishment. But considering the 3 guys I mention, Cotto still had good performances, considering he fought 3 of the strongest guys at welter weight.

...And people area already acting like Cotto will be an easy fight for Pac coz they think he is already damaged.. cOtto is a very dangerous fight for Pac and its stupid to say that he is shot if ever Pac will ko him.

The cut didn't help Cotto any that's for sure. I thought Cotto did damn good job overcoming that adversity along with 1st rnd knock down, I saw Cotto as the clear winner :good

Well you are right that he did fight three of the best WW.

In the Shane fight he started fighting on the back foot, some people say he was hurt and some people say Shane was going to KO him. I think he fought intelligently in the last three rounds. It may have been fatigue but I can't personally say that it was obviously fatigue.

The Margarito fight he had a busted nose from an uppercut since like the 2nd or 3rd round. The fight ended in the 11th and it's also not a certainty of whether or not Margo had loaded gloves which may or may not have added to his purported fatigue.

In the Clottey fight he fought off the backfoot a lot and his out put throughout the fight after the cut so it's really hard to say that he gassed espicially since he won a few of the championship rounds which helped him clinch the SD in the judges scorecards.

I think the cut affected Cotto a lot. Not only in not letting him see clearly all the time, but it is also a constant distraction. I think Cotto barely won the war and lost the battle. I say this because although I had him up by a point I think he won because of the slighlty flawed way to measure the winner in a boxing match.
