They are called Bums because they are lousy 4-21 fighters that stink out the joint and come to lose and not win, how many times have you seen a flabby 225 lb forklift driver, with a beer belly, falling all over the ring, and trying to slap his opponent:-( Nobody wants to see that Bull**** that's why they are called BUMS.. Tomato cans are pretty much more of the same, not really a difference..:hat
a poster earlier described john duddy and gary lockett as bums,i was like wtf,how have these fighters ever deserved that tag, both very good, not elite but still could challenge for a title.fighters go into the ring and put their life on the line, yet some guy in an armchair can sit and call them a bum,i ask anyone who dares calling a boxer a bum and has never boxed, please go to your local gym and ask to spar with anyone around your weight, thats when we will see what a bum is.
Not always. Fighters like Mike Tyson are hated by some but you could hardly call him a bum. Bobby Gunn has been mentioned as a bum due to his less than stellar boxing credentials, yet I wouldn't say he's hated.
:happy i give you a standing ovation :happy People who refer to fighters as bums make me sick and want to punch their teeth down their throat
I remember a comment from lampley. I forget what fighter Merchant was talking about when he said that he has fought nothing but 21 cab drivers and Lampley said. "well he is undefeated. You try fighting 21 cab drivers and I'm sure the result will be very different"
they are called bums because their is a bigger disparity between a top 50 tennisplayer and the #1 and wladimir klitschko and lets say brian minto. a top 50 tennis player knows all the shots and if they would wear the same shirt it would be hard to distinguish the better seeded player from the underdog. top 50 boxer means you are a little better than a clubfighter.
I'm sorry, but it's really more than that. Fighters are disrespected WAAAAAAY too much, mostly by people who don't fully realize how very hard it is to be in there in the right shape and deliver a sharp performance, and know next to nothing about blood, sweat & tears. And frankly, i think it's laughable on my best days and deserving of severe physical punishment on my lesser ones.
It's because fighters are usually associated to thugs or people with unethical or uncivilized behavior. I regret saying this, but there's a common stereotype for ya.
For example, a guy may play upwards of 50 games for an English Premier Club in just one season......most boxers won't come close to having that many fights, so a loss in boxing is more criticial. Plus, boxers can end up fighting every six months or so, whereas a footballer is playing every week, so he can immediately redeem himself unlike a boxer.
This is one of the most annoying things for me. And the reason why they say **** like that is because they're **** sucking ***gots and deserve to get their eyes riped out from their skull and stuck up their ass. ..I'd love to see them put on Joes vs Pros and thrown into the ring with Gatti or something like that and see their ***** brains get bashed across the ring because their Pencil necks won't be sufficient enough to hold.
So a worldclass boxer can actually be considered a "bum" if he doesn't fight the type of fighters you think he should face?
