Is it just me, but I'm quickly losing interest in boxing because of this endless negotiations.. it seems that making fights takes forever... does anyone else have this fatigue? just hearing news stories about the 2 Boxer's teams going back and forth for MONTHS?? for example Fury/Wilder Fury/Joshua Canelo/Plant Whyte/Charles Martin? (when the hell is Dillian fighting again its been forever) LOma/Lopez 2 GGG.. Dude is 39 years old, and is fighting in December? WTF? why would u even announce a fight that far ahead smh
Meanwhile top notch matches like Figueroa vs Fulton, are being made every other week. Stop focusing on the big names, there's guys who aren't names that are just as good if not better than the big stars. Then you'll realize that there's plenty of solid matches to be found.... and you'll be happy as a clam.
Funny how aj vs fury took months and months of negotiations only to fall through and then 2 weeks later fury vs wilder 3 was a done deal
nah I'm not really into 120 pounders... its boring to me. But I do know what u mean. I remember Beterbiev vs. Gvozdyk a few years back.. that was an epic fight for all of the belts, and nobody even watched it...
After years of calm and wild growth in athlete pay, suddenly the entertainment dollar is getting squeezed from every side and every level, both revenue and expenses. Live events are more expensive to put on and a number of them appear to have flopped in ticket sales and such (Lopez-Kambosos, Fury-Wilder 3). Many of the stars have been sitting on the sidelines waiting it out, maybe taking a mandatory, since last March. Nobody wants to accept a paycut and everyone hopes it will be 2019 again really soon. I think many of them will to regret it, and come to see 2021 as a wasted year.
It was for 2 belts and at 175lbs. You are so knowledgeable to tell that nobody even watched it? Fight had been sold out pretty well.
Yeah, there enough high number of them who did not had fought in 2021 th and still does not have next fight scheduled.
Not saying you have to be, there's still plenty of fights 130 and over. These are some of the decent fights in September alone. Come on, you've got to see a few matches worth getting hyped about don't you? 9/1 - Kazuto Ioka vs. Francisco Rodriguez Jr - 12x3 9/3 - Hassan Mwakinyo vs. Julius Indongo - 12x3 9/4 - Hopey Price vs. Zahid Hussain - 10x3 9/4 - Katie Taylor vs. Jennifer Han - 10x2 9/4 - Conor Benn vs. Adrian Granados - 12x3 9/4 - Jovanni Straffon vs. Maxi Hughes - 12x3 9/4 - Mauricio Lara vs. Josh Warrington II - 12x3 9/10 - Filip Hrgovic vs. Marko Radonjic - TBD 9/10 - Souleymane Cissokho vs. Ismail Iliev - 10x3 9/10 - Tony Ioka vs. Petar Milas - 10x3 9/10 - Mathieu Bauderlique vs. Igor Mikhalkin - 12x3 9/10 - Ronal Batista vs. Alejandro Santiago Barrios - 12x3 9/10 - Louie Lynn vs. Amin Jahanzeb - 10x3 9/10 - Sam Eggington vs. Bilel Jkitou - 12x3 9/10 - Gabriel Flores Jr vs. Luis Alberto Lopez Vargas - 10x3 9/10 - Junto Nakatani vs. Angel Acosta - 12x3 9/10 - Oscar Valdez vs. Robson Conceicao - 12x3 9/11 - Rikito Shiba vs. Shokichi Iwata - 10x3 9/11 - Yuki Nagano vs. Yuki Beppu II - 8x3 9/11 - Oleg Misiura vs. Artysh Lopsan - 10x3 9/11 - Asror Vokhidov vs. Mukhammad Shekhov - 10x3 9/11 - Ruslan Kamilov vs. Stanislav Kalitskiy - 10x3 9/11 - Dmitrii Khasiev vs. Gaibatulla Gadzhialiev - 10x3 9/11 - Evgeny Tishchenko vs. Dmitry Kudryashov - 10x3 9/11 - Alexander Besputin vs. Mauricio Pintor - 12x3 9/11 - Jessie Wilcox vs. Brandon Brewer - 10x3 9/11 - Ryan Rozicki vs. Vasil Ducar - 10x3 9/11 - Kerman Lejarraga vs. Dylan Charrat - 12x3 9/11 - Callum Johnson vs. Marko Nikolic - 10x3 9/11 - Sunny Edwards vs. Jayson Mama - 12x3 9/11 - Andy Vences vs. Jono Carroll - 10x3 9/11 - David Haye vs. Joe Fournier - 8x3 9/11 - Oscar De La Hoya vs. Vitor Belfort - 8x3 9/11 - Anderson Silva vs. Tito Ortiz - 8x3 9/17 - Ariel Humberto Perez de la Torre vs. Franklin Manzanilla - 8x3 9/18 - Raeese Aleem vs. Eduardo Baez - 12x3 9/18 - Stephen Fulton vs. Brandon Figueroa - 12x3 9/23 - Arslanbek Makhmudov vs. Erkan Teper - 12x3 9/23 - Christopher Ousley vs. Khasan Baysangurov - 10x3 9/25 - Callum Smith vs. Lenin Castillo - 12x3 9/25 - Maxim Prodan vs. Florian Marku -10x3 9/25 - Lawrence Okolie vs. Dilan Prasovic - 12x3 9/25 - Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk - 12x3 9/30 - Craig Baker vs. Deon Nicholson - 8x3
yeah it was only 10,000 arena, the ratings on it were very poor from what I remember.. it was on regular ESPN... my point is that it was 2 undefeated powerhouses who put their belts on the line... just saying it didn't receive the hype it deserved.
It's not just you. It really gets annoying ... and it is hardly entertaining anymore. We need to wait ages to see some quality fights...
The Heavyweight scene has definitely ground to a halt. It is the most talked about division, which l get to a degree as it's the flagship of boxing. It has literally stagnated though, Tyson Fury (7 fights in nearly 7 years) is a prime example.
Covid slowed things down along with negotiations being longer because of venue issues,...etc... It's easier for UFC because everything is under one org where in boxing you have to speak to multiple promoters, tv networks,...etc... and the process becomes much longer. Eddie Hearn has primarily focused his time more on his own stable under DAZN with his fighters fighting in his garden because it's simpler and more convenient to make those fights.
