    1. clean straight punches have more power.

    2. Floyd stuns manny in round 1 with a so called pot shot.

    3. round 7, floyd hits manny with a jab and rocks him.

    4. all of floyds counters stopped manny in his tracks.

    "pot shot?"

A "pot shot" is an easy shot.

Nothing wrong with a boxer taking pot shots.

Mainly because they come 1 at a time. No combos. He times them well.

I wish he had more reason to throw combinations because in flashes against Maidana in 1 and Cotto, where he was forced to trade, he still looked stunning. It's a shame he has his philosophy of points first, no risks, get the dough and act ''entertaining'' outside of it even though it's served him well as he could have done so much more.

    This.

Agreed, he did look good when he was forced to trade.

Maybe that's why Pac and others elect not to let it all hang out and try to make him trade ... they can take one at a time.

Or maybe they're just not good enough to do it.

intent-just to score points like the amateurs. not to dominate or damage. if boxing is content with pot shots then knock outs and knock downs should not be legal anymore or they should just put on a head gear. proffesional prize fighting is just different and dangerous job that's why it pays a lot.

I wouldn't say they're not good enough. It's difficult to explain because I don't believe Floyd hurts them. I think they're more worried about avoiding mistakes and getting further behind. This causes them to think too much. Then they become tentative. Notice the guys who've had success are the ones that let it all hang out.

Nah, professional boxing should allow a diverse range of styles and equal opportunities to win. Someone who lacks power or chin might be force to pot shot their way to a victory. Can't take that away from them because then it becomes a "strong man" contest, might as well arm wrestle

pot shotting is a very amateur style of boxing

it involves trying single punches with little power.

usually involves a hug after or running away after to avoid a reply.

However, if he traded every fight, what's the chances he would've lasted 20 years ? Stick and move baby !!!!

Boxing wouldn't be fun if everyone fought the same, why are we complaining?

because some people like fighters who cant adapt.

instead of thinking "why cant they adapt to beat that style", they think "we should BAN that style!".

    basically, proving their lower intelligence.

people don't mind pot shoting its more the things that are associated with pot shoting, eg running and holding

even if someone fights that way in the amatuers its frowned upon to a certain extent

    Pot shot....hmmm

Really hard to hit someone with a lead right, infact it is not recommended since in floyds case a orthodox fighter the punch has to travel too far.

However floyds speed and mastery of timing and punching distance he is able to do this and make something hard look easy.

Infact in some schools of boxing it is regarded as disrespectful to hit an opponent with a lead right. (means they are slow)

actually hitting someone with a corkscrew lead right isn't that hard and its a tactic amatuers masters as its a flashy shot and a good point scorer. If followed up with a clinch its very hard to defend against and even harder to attack back
