why are GBP promoting morales-maidana like a superfight?

Well I don't want to see him hurt badly- but I do want to see a Maidana KO cos I've got 50 quid on it!

 

I was reading a very recent Morales interview. The man is deluded.

He said something along the lines of 'Maidana is nothing compared to guys like Pacquiao who I've fought. He doesn't punch has hard as him, he not anywhere near as fast as him'.

Morales doesn't realise he isn't the fighter he was. Seriously, protect this guy from himself.

 

i think his power may be a tad over-rated myself, and hes not as fast as pacquiao

 

Don't be surprised if Erik sticks a jab in his face and makes it competitive for a few rounds...it'll get ugly after that though.

 

Haven't seen Erik's recent bouts but the footwork will be night and day different. Maidana's footwork is awful and Erik's footwork is beautiful to watch but obviously he hasn't got the legs he once had i'd imagine. I go along with Slip's thinking Erik will box well early and then Maidana will catch up with him and let go with his artillery and get job done mid to late.

 

Can't be any worse than Haye V Harrison...

At best Maidana's power will simply end it early on.

At worst Morales' pride will ensure it is a prolonged beating.

 

Erik should be able to make it competative. he is shot to **** but I think he will win anyway.....just a hunch lol

 

Morales gonna get destroyed,just hope Maidana scores a quick KO,i dont want to see a prolonged beating of a once great fighter .

 

He is telling the truth though, what is deluded about him saying that he has been in with more skilled, faster and harder hitters than maidana? Do you expect him to just say that he is there for a payday because he is past prime and fighting off his name rather than current skill, get a grip Haroon.

 

That fight is expected to be a war!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

In response to the actual thread title.

To the casual observer, this fight can be made to look like a very competitive fight. I.e. Legendary morales v ko artist. I think we all get that the reality is far different. But it's called a promotion for a reason, and the certainly aren't going to be saying shot fighter v overrated puncher.
Has morales not got any good people around him to advise him this may be a bad idea? I mean I don't rate maidana too much, but clearly the guy can punch, and given the opportunity I don't think it's going to take too much from him to totally beat down and ruin morales

 

If Maidana had never been mentioned as a Khan opponent then hardly anyone from the UK would have even heard of him. Morales is a very experienced fighter who will be tough to beat. I have always thought he was the best boxer out of him and Barrera when he actually chose to box instead of go to war. I suspect he knows his limitations these days and will adjust accordingly
