Why are hardly any of Johnny Nelson’s fights on the web?

Was a masterful near punch perfect performance against Thompson (though was stopped too early). Nelson wasnt always the most exciting yo watch, but was in this fight. Very talented boxer in the latter stages of his career. Underrated because of entertainment value and amount of losses on his record. Might be in minority but if he was at the top at the same time as Haye i think he would hace nullified alot Hayes best work and beat him on points.

Great post moog. Brendan rated Johnny as his biggest achievement. He thought Herol Graham, Naz and Ryan Rhodes all under-achieved.

Cheers mate. Brendan was right. All the focus was on those guys you mentioned, whilst Nelson just grafted away in the background and done everything his mentor told him to do and never thought he knew best. Never got too big for his boots unlike some.

Knocking out Andy Straughn in the Finsbury Park tent for the British?
    Stopping Dennis Andries?
Battering Thompson to win the world title?
His butchering of Bruce Scott in his first defence?
His 7 year reign knocking out Lewis, Girard, Watt, Ezra Sellers and Ruediger May?

    All great stuff

His fights were not the most exciting
Its not a knock so dont be so defensive

Im full of admiration for Nelson
