Why are Klitschko undercards so poor?

    For Wlad/Peter II, the best undercard fight Banks/Montana. Atrocious fight.

    For Wlad/Chambers, the best undercard bout was Banks, yet again, against Walker. Another terrible fight.

    For Wlad/Chagaev, it was Ustinov against Sprott. Another **** fight.

    For Wlad/Rahman, the only undercard bout with anyone remotely interesting in it, was Bowe's fight.

    For Wlad/Thompson, there wasn't a single interesting fight on the undercard.

    For Vitali/Solis, Afolabi was on the undercard but against a **** fighter.

    For Vitali/Briggs, Afolabi and Ustinov were fighting but both against **** opponents.

    For Vitali/Sosnowki, there was only two undercard fights, one with Banks drawing and one unheard of prospect against a bum.

    These guys are making enormous money. The gate receipts for the Sosnowski fight, which was a complete mismatch, were well into the millions. Why aren't they giving fans value for their money with at least one 'good' fight on the above 8 cards? There wasn't been a single good undercard fight there. The majority were mismatches with prospects like Banks.

    This hurts boxing, without question. I feel for the fans who have to **** through abysmal undercards and terrible main events.

    the germans love them. they dont have to show a great card 'cause they are racking up on dough

    Because they don't need good undercards (which are more expensive) to sell their fights. /end thread

    Because their fans are no genuine boxing fans and do not know what boxing quality actually is.

    No, they are free. But there are a lot of commercials in between rounds. They are shown on RTL. They used to be on ZDF, once on ARD and once on SKY I believe (which was Premiere at that time).

    Of course but they owe it to the fans, don't they? Especially when the main events are so poor. In the end, it will hurt boxing greatly to have a situation where there is so little excitement on a card.

    Their TV station (RTL) has never shown any undercard fights. Not with the K brothers, not with previous boxers they had under contract in the 90s (Maske, Schulz).

    That's why K2 likely has little interest paying boxers good money for fights that would never get televised. The German audience (who don't have a clue about boxing) certainly doesn't care.

    Boxing is a business. They don't owe **** to the fans, it's not their job to keep the sport healthy and competitive. The promoter's job is to make as much money as they can. It's not in their interests to waste money on good undercards when the customers will gladly fork out money for **** undercards. Only when people stop going to fights because of the poor undercard quality will we see a change. Everything boils down to $$$. That's the bottom line.

    With typical Klitschko defence, a good undercard could easily turn out to be the best fight of the night.
