Why are Lennox Lewis losses to mediocre opposition swept under the rug?

Actually, it's unforgivable of me to hitch a ride on the alt-outing hype train, err I'm above all that...

    Lewis is extremely overrated

Had competitve fights with shot 36/37 Holyfield despite outweighing him by 20-30 pounds, having the longer reach and height over him

They are not because he avenged them emphatically like Muhammad Ali did. Avenging your defeats is a mark of greatness in boxing.

Pretty much all Holyfield opponents had the reach and height advantage. In the heavyweight division I imagine they all outweighed him too.

I think because he beat them so convincingly in the rematches and imo he looked unmotivated in those two losses which made him sometimes lackadaisical in fights. I never realized how true that was till I found myself bored or not motivated as I should have been when I was in the ring. It’s a very true thing when they say a fighter looks asleep in there… plus neither Rahman or McCall were as skilled as Lennox and.

    Um, they're not?

Lewis gets sh*t for losing to McCall and Rahman all the time.

Because he avenged them convincingly, proving they were flukes. Why don't people degrade Tyson for losing to Buster freakin' Douglas?

I have Lewis a top 10 heavyweight, one loss is a fluke, two losses to lesser opponents is something else add to the fact they were fairly early KO losses . The McCall loss is probably the worst. He did avenge the Rahman ko in spectacular fashion but his rematch win over McCall wasn't anything to brag about as McCall went nuts in the ring.

Because it was obvious from the rematches that Lewis was a class above.
    Shocking thread!

Neither of the opponents were poor, on their day they were a handful for anyone.
They had their day against an unmotivated Lewis who got sloppy, however when fully focussed for the rematches Lewis was in another league to both.

I think H2H Lewis is the GOAT, I don’t see Marciano or Ali or Louis beating Lennox, he has much of their abilities topped by his immense size, weight and strength.
That said when measured within their eras other fighters can lay their own strong claims to being the Best Ever.

All of this talk is reminding me of Dominic Ingle.

    My favourite trainer.

Rahman and the Atomic Bull would both beat Joshua and they'd be live against Fury
