The likes of Marciano, Louis and Ali and co are held up as some type of gods where as people are mocked if they compare. The modern athlete would destroy these guys of yesteryear, Haye would spark them out cold so would Tyson, Holyfield and Lewis.
you have to judge athletes relative to their eras. If Marciano had today's training facilities, nutrition, and technical knowledge, imagine how good he would be? Greatness is not all about who would beat who. Today's Ethiopean army would crush the Pharaonic empire in about 3 days.
Agree I like the fact that old school fighters fought anyone unlike today...however fighters of today could have given these legends a run for their money who knows. **** I bet even WLAD would probably jab foreman to death! lol **** im kidding, I probably started a riot with that statement.
There are loads of great fighters in history - but think. Why, at any given moment, would there be anyone as good as Ali boxing in the heayvwieght division. The man only has a handful of fighters for company. It's not because he's "old". It's because history contains hundreds of thousand heavyweights. Right now contains on tiny fraction of that - you don't need to be a mathmatician to know that it's more likely that the very best fighters will be drawn from the massed ranks of history's fighters. Silly.
How is it silly, Louis and Marciano would look tiny compared to the likes of Haye, its not silly at all its realistic. Maybe Ali is an exception like you said but i can't see how the other 2 win.
First - this thing you have about size? Get rid. Chagaev beats Valuev because he is better. There are many other examples. Louis would KO Haye in round one. Haye was almost no advantages.
