Past great/good champions ripping on current stars, why do boxing guys feel the need to to this,

Now this article is being made on the back of Oscar tweeting during the mayweather fight(and he gets a lot of the hate), but it has happened before with others, guys saying I fell asleep during this card or that

Look over at the ufc, rarely ever happens with past fighters, you get the odd one but in boxing you see in regularly,

    Why is this?

It's simply pride. Older boxers who were the best of their era won't acknowledge a later fighter might be greater, whether he is or not. Leonard, Hagler, Duran sure won't say Floyd's greater than them. And in most cases I agree that older boxers were greater than today's.

Oscar should be praising the upcoming middleweight fights at the expense of Floyd-Berto. But mocking Floyd as a fighter makes him look petty and childish. If Oscar praised Floyd and said he dominated everyone except him it would only make himself look better.

If older ufc fighters praise current ufc fighters it doesn't say anything about them, just that ufc's only been around for 10 years, and doesn't have a past that might have included greater fighters.

The one huge advantage UFC has over baaxing is that there is no cherrypicking. The best invariably fight the best

Old time boxers also for the most part fought the best

The amount of cherrypicking going on in baxxing today is a damn disgrace so the criticism is more then warranted
