That HEADBUTT caused the bleeding throughout the remainder of the fight. And all that Morales can muster is a SPLIT DECISION. Is that what you call outboxed? Obviously, you didn't watch the fight. I suggest you watch that ROUND 5, cause now it's free. :hat

I love the logic when people use ring wars as an excuse. somehow, the ring war didn't affect Morales in his first fight. Then all of a sudden...Morales is getting his butt handed to him in the 2nd fight and Morales's body screams, "Too many ring wars" and he magically loses stamina and chin.:patsch

The first Pac-Morales fight is perhaps my favourite fight ever... and that's coming from a Pacquiao diehard. For me, it just has everything. The first round is the best I've ever seen other than Hagler-Hearns, and Pac's chin in round 7 is nothing short of phenomenal. Morales hits him with bombs and the Pacman refuses to budge.

Many, many great fighters lost in their prime. Duran did, Leonard did, countless others did. That's what happens when you fight the best. And Morales was the best. Unless you are a zero-obsessed part-time fan, losing a close decision in an amazing fight to a warrior like Morales is not a real black mark. And it was avenged anyway. Pacquiao has never been perfect, he has been an evolving beast.

If Pac had the gloves he wanted and did not get cut, I'm not sure it would have made a difference. Rounds 7-9 may have been closer, but I still think Morales's stronger start over the first few rounds and his excellent jab and boxing through the middle section would have seen him edge a razor-thin decision.

I rate this fight as the Duran-Leonard I of the 00s - a fight where both men enhanced their reputations and produced a match of timeless class and intensity. Pacquiao's chin, heart and relentlessness are incredible. Morales boxes better than I thought possible, and did so inside the eye of the storm. My jaw is on the floor whenever I watch this one.

The third fight doesn't mean much to me, Morales was shellshocked from the second and his career was winding down whereas Pacquiao was improving all areas of his game at a rapid rate, but the first two fights are classics IMO. Two of the best fighters of the age, and two of the best wins of the decade.

oh i've seen it, it's a tremendous fight. i just don't understand why people would discredit a magnificent performance by two fighters saying it was a headbutt that did it. plenty of fighters get cut and plenty of fighters find their way to win. absolutely pac got cut and it probably affected his performance. but it wouldn't have meant jack **** if morales didn't fight so brilliantly

headbutted... that is not fair and square. morales won no question but it is nothing special or to be awarded. pac always wipe that cut to remove the blood blocking his sight just to get a clear view of morales.. it was a factor but morales win is nothing special against a 1 eyed fighter. you dont brag winning against a cyclop. :smoke

You must have a brain the size of a pea. You are looking at 1 prediction out of at least 300 I've made on ESB. I made a thread right after that fight giving Pac his credit. Why don't you post that? Why don't you post all the correct predictions I've made? I've many comments IN FAVOR of Pac on this site.

fair enough. we'll just have to disagree. as i said above cuts happen...fighters fight through them. for me the cut was a small part of the story, morales skills were a much bigger part

All 3 officials scored the fight for Morales aka a unanimous decision ya dick.

Keep this schoolboy **** up & you`ll be placed in the same bottom tier category as snell & critic - a pair of wankers.

Wait til Pac is in another 5-7 tough fights and you will see a totally different fighter. Thats how this game goes. The first 2 Barrera-Morales fights alone is enough for someone to never be the same again

exactly. cuts cannot be used to excuse every fighter and every loss. barrera didn't lose against khan, jones didn't lose to calzaghe, hell neither did lacy, and cooper NEVER lost to ali then

I'm not taking his win away from him AT ALL. Morales is an all-time favorite of mine too so this is hardly an attack, just my opinion on what happened.

You can't deny that the gloves and cut played a major role there even though Morales fought like he had a gameplan and knew what he was doing, he won it fair and square.

However, I'd also like to see people give Pacquiao credit for ad******g and avenging his loss TWICE. Sure, in the third fight it was obvious Morales is done, his decision to take the same puncher gloves Pacquiao uses is because he knew it's either win by KO early or lose early. The second fight though is all about Pacquiao's adjustments and the gloves DID play a major role, Pacquiao was able to stun/rock Morales many times. Morales nearly hit the canvas in the 2nd round.
