Ward is very taleneted and has taken a much harder road than Joe ever did thats why people are going over board ..He's not better than Joe but is on pace to surpass what he's accomplished ..
Second this pretty much!!! The division has some spark noww though. Ward deserves his p4p rating, but to call him the best SMW of all time... RJJnr prime is hard to beat and the only guy i put above Joe.
only a ****in fool would think Kessler would EVER beat Ward. Kessler couldnt beat Ward on Wards worst day. im so tired of that injury excuse. yall need to get over it. an american IS the top SMW GET OVER IT
I don't know. Not losing a fight in almost 16 years is pretty impressive.. ESB collectively loses the run of itself after every big fight. It happens, after a while the hype around Ward will die down. He's deserving of some of it though. It's not the win over Froch that impressed people so much as the manner of the win. He completely dominated Froch in every way. He was even physically stronger than Froch which was a surprise to many. Ward is only 27. I think people are just excited about his potential, because he appears to have all the physical and technical tools, along with intimidating mental strenght. Nothin' wrong with that.
You're always hypeing the **** out of any european fighter.. If Ward was english, you would have made a million threads about how amazing he is.
im a massive calzaghe fan.. but all these calzaghe fights u mentioned came in the last 5 fighs of his career and hopkins fights wasnt even at super middle weight but all these ward fights CAME IN THE FIRST 5 TITLE FIGHTS IN HIS CAREER... HIS ONLY 27.. calzaghe was a no1 when he was 27... like i said i love calzaghe his one of the best but dont knock ward he won me over and beat a very good and tough fighter in froch in his own game. plus wards 5 fights look better.. manfredo and lacy r both irrelevent bums.
I don't care much for Ward. His religious pontifications, his ugly tactics (head and holding etc). And prime Calzaghe would, IMO, beat him without breaking a sweat. He was exhausted at the end of the Froch fight and that wouldn't augur well for facing prime Joe. However, he is probably the best SMW on the planet at this point (with the possible exception of Bute. We'll find out next year) He beat Froch cleanly without fouls. He is still improving. He has put on a few very decent performances lately and was near masterful against Froch. So yes, the hype is justified. If he can improve his stamina a little, he has the tools and the heart to become the greatest SMW ever.
How has Ward taken a harder road? He hasnt fought anyone as good as the Eubank and Reid, Calzaghe fought in as many world title fights, not to mention - Kessler, Green, Bika, Abraham, Froch for Ward is it better than Lacy, Bika, Manfredo, Kessler, Hopkins for Calzaghe[/quote]
youre a ****ing idiot he kicked kesslers ass...**** you and youre excuse for that big baby calzaghe beat a eubank that was in his 3rd to last fight after over 50 fights...and he lost his last 3. he started his career off by beating a shot legend...and ended it by fighting 40 year old shot legends. Robin Reid? hahaha WTF ever.... and another thing dummy...no top middle has fought Bute...because he hasnt gotten in the ring with ANY OF THEM.
Stop giving it BS :-( Ward hasnt fought anyone as good as the Eubank and Reid, Calzaghe fought in as many world title fights. You say Lacy and Manfredo r bums, but they were both top 10 SMWs - I dont like to go by Boxrec logic but as everyone else seems to find it acceptable here goes. When Calzaghe beat Manfredo, Manfredos Boxrec points started on 372 and finished on 306 Abrahams when he fought Ward started on 378 and finished on 283 Now heres the point Manfredos points were 372 from his previous fight before Calzaghe. Abrahams were 348 and went up from not doing anything. Now at SMW since the S6 Abraham is 2-3 with his best win over Taylor coming off a KO loss and being 1-3 in his last 4 fights Manfredo had lost a debateable SD to a future world champ, beat Pemberton coming off a loss also and undefeated Spina. Now thats not great but not worse than Abraham who was coming off of 2 clear S6 defeats, thats not a challenge. As for Lacy consider Lacy was 5-0 in world title fights whilst Froch was 5-1. Lacy won all of his fights clearly, Froch lost to Kessler and looked lucky to many against Dirrell and to some against old journeyman Johnson. Froch hasnt beaten a prime SMW who has done much in the division, Lacy already has a better win than any Froch has scored over world class Reid and Lacy beat Tsypko who has done more at SMW than any of Frochs world title victors
