He doesn't have to look at the bottle to see, he could tell by Haye's body language haye's gonna attack if he dropped the bottle, Haye was on attack mode, he felt threatened so he attacked.

 

Definitely makes sense especially bc he could've easily injured himself but in the heat of the moment maybe Haye just acted without thinking too much and going through all the possible actions he could take there.
