Does anyone think that this could possibly turn out very embarrassing for Jones. Calzaghe isnt far off his absolute prime, Jones is shot to bits.

well this pretty much sums up Joes career, nothing but smokes and mirrors.. think about it, this man is asking for Roy 10 years late!!! hell, he'll make millions sure..yes a career defining fight against a shot RJJ...

the worst thing like I said is people buying this ****. Ahh they love Joe in the U.K...

Joes legacy will be beating the great RJJ and HOP, what a resume!!! Im sure new boxing fans in the U.K. will use this as reference 10 years down the road right in these same forums. Sad

Jones vs Calzaghe is a huge let down for me, after all the talk, and Pavlik's name coming out of Calzaghe's mouth pre-Hopkins.

Pavlik can easily make 168, and has fought above the 160 weight plenty of times through out his career. Pavlik is in his prime and/or coming into it. Both fighters are undefeated, so there will be a lot at stake. Both fighters gain a whole hell of a lot via a win, and lose just as much via loss. Baring all of that, I think it would be an interesting fight considering both fighters' styles.

How many times do I have to say this fight is absolute and total ****, how can you even have a legacy by barely getting by Hopkins on a controverisal decison when you get put on your ass and then a shot Roy Jones and this will be your claim to fame. This will be the sum total of your career? Joe Calzaghe wil retire leaving plenty of questions about the quality of his career.

Unfortunately, this fight will sell because Jones' fans are as delusional as Tyson's fans were. Roy's legs are gone and he can only fight in spurts, he has enough left for over the hill welterweights who haven't fought in 3 years but his days of beating the elite at 168 and 175 are long gone.

OK Ill make you laugh. Joes fans as part of their smoke and mirrors campaign have elevated Lacy as Godzilla and Kessler as "Ivan Drago".

Why you say?, to pull the blanket over our eyes. Kessler and Lacy were great, so what does that make Joe beating them both? GOD.

You get what Im sayin? Voila! Now think about that. Think that Joes fans really believe that. See how pathetic.

Overall in today's boxing picture Calzaghe vs Pavlik is just a more meaningful fight than Calzaghe vs Jones

its funny how lacy and kessler are place by some people as great, probably like an ATG when i haven't even seen those two make the top 10 p4p list in any year:rofl:rofl:rofl

now joe wants jones and people think its going to be a challenge, they are hyping this **** up against another old timer more past it and more shot than hopkins is. RJJ already got KOed twice by tarver and johnson. If any RJJ is already a leftover by those guys.

Why not hype someone else like pavlik or dawson?

Joe said it himself. Jones is a disappointment, and Pavlik would be a more meaningful fight. Listen to what Joe says at around 6 minutes, 53 seconds of this clip.

by your standards, that could be seen as Calzaghe trying to duck Jones. Don't forget that Calzaghe also said KP is not ready to fight him, which is kind of similar

seriously by what you've defined as proof that Calzaghe is ducking Pavlik, if JC were to fight RJJ, he'd be ducking KP, and if he fights KP, he'd be ducking Jones

You guys are amazing. Did you listen to the interview? Calzaghe said "Jone was a great fighter. He's not a great fighter now." Having him as a final fight would be a "let down." Christ almighty, even when Joe himself says Pavlik is the better and more important opponent, you guys still defend his choice of Jones! what the **** is wrong with you?
