Why are people giving Curtis Stevens a chance against Golovkin ?

I would pick Golovkin to brutally KO Jesse Brinkley...3 years ago...at 168lbs.
I would've picked Golovkin to beat Peter Quillin, IF Kid Undercard wouldn't have declined the fight last May.
I would've picked Golovkin to beat Sergio Martinez when he made his debut on HBO last September.
You wanna know why? Golovkin isn't a black American and he doesn't speak Spanish. That's why.
How mad does that make you, Mr. Blizz?:rofl

Because he is from NY and overhyped. Stevens has an awful Chin. He is going to get slaughtered.

Youre rooting for the white guy and I'm rooting for the black guy. Nobody should be pissed off or mad at anything or anyone, lmao.

We don't know about GGs chin yet, but we do know that he can be dropped with a body shot.

Anybody can be dropped by a strong body shot. Landing that body shot in a high level fight is another story.

I always sat on the sidelines when the *******/***** war was at its peak, I won't start chiming in now that it's died down a bit. :D

Personally, what I can't wait to see is a Stevens left hook aimed at Golovkin's guard/head... whether it lands, grazes or misses completely - dunno, but an amateur with over 300 fights should see it coming. When Macklin landed his first (of few) decent right hand up top, Golovkin nodded back. As in, 'yes you got me here, let's see what happens next'. We know what happened next. I wanna see if Stevens' trash talk, coffins, etc will up Golovkin's aggression level... he won't nod back in respect, he'll smile and pound away.

    :bbb

Interesting. Findley seems like he would be a great brain-picking interview subject given the slew of experience against all the prospects he fought over the years.

Indeed. One of those solid journeyman who's fought some of the best (often at short notice) like Boone. Either mighta been considered contenders if their careers had been paced properly.

Like you say, between them they have as much experience of fighting the top guys as almost anyone in the sport.

Intresting interview ^. I'd seen a different (and shorter) clip.

Camp should be pretty much over by now, and anyway Findley's freelance, he doesn't owe Golovkin anything. Perhaps he might be expected to pick GGG over Stevens, but would never be expected to throw in that he thinks Gena could beat Ward for instance.

If you watch Findley - Stevens ('tube it), Derrick doesn't seem to give Curtis much respect in the fight either. There's times when Curtis unloads on him and he just grins in return. Curtis did outbox Findley, and was quicker, but it was a long, long way from a domination.

'Sides, I know it doesn't necessarily mean much, but he looks to me like he means it when he's talking 'bout Gennady, the way he says stuff - y'know, it ain't just random platitudes (whilst you can train to suppress it, looking up and left is usually a sign of genuine recollection / reflection).

Yeah GGGs gotta watch out for that weak skin of his. In fact, I'd better contact him ASAP to ensure they've taken account of this vital factor in the fight plan.

Thanks for the heads up, D :good
