Based on what ? I like Crawford but his resume is very mediocre outside of the Spence fight, his best win prior to Spence fight was Viktor Postol.

Just compare their best wins at 140/147 Mayweather has superior names on his record.

I think Crawford fights conventionally at a more busier rate, more offense, more risky and more exciting. While Floyd has modes. He goes through phases. Phase one play defence and make one blow their load, phase 2 start standing his ground opening up shots, phase 3 starting to let the combinations fly, and punches being thrown. 85 % of the Ricky Hatton fight he was titling and playing d. While Rick was trying to take his head off. Once he tired, Floyd put it on him. I don't remember either Maidana fight not the Castillo fights, but I know he has the luck to get close decisions. While Crawford has the reputation for no questionable wins, he wins emphatically, while Floyd, like I said he's been battle tested before from those two back to back duals. The thing is with Floyd he has no reason to switch modes, if it was up to him, he would pitch a boring shutout like he did against Manny Pacquiao. My point is bud mixes them up, and he likes to get his hands all dirty while doing it. No pristine stuff.

Idk if it’s because people have a dislike of Floyd or money Mayweather the character or if it’s just recency bias but to me it’s not even close.
Head to head Floyd is faster is maybe the best defensive fighter ever has underrated pop on his punches and can really fight at all levels he can dance around and pop shot you all night like a Baldomir or he can stand in the pockets and take ya heart like a Mosley. Crawford’s showing was super impressive maybe one of the most dominant that I’ve seen live considering the level of opposition but that’s really Bud first REAL TEST. Bud has the power advantage and has some craftiness with his switching of stances but idk if bud can get to him.
Resume wise it’s no question outside of Mitchell in his first fight and
L Berto in his last every single fighter Floyd fought was either a current champ, top 3 rated or p4p or a combination of all 3.
Judah #3(the last TRUE undisputed champ)
    Baldomir #1(WBC/Lineal champ)
    Hatton #1 @ 140 Undisputed 140/Lineal champ
    Marquez #1 @135 Lineal 135 champ p4p#2
    Mosley #1 @147 WBA champ p4p #3
    Ortiz #3 @147 WBC Champ
    Guerrero #3 @147 p4p #9
    Maidana #4 @147 WBA champ 2x
    Pacquiao #2 @147 WBO champ p4p #2
The only guys Bud has fought at 147 that were top 3 or a champ or p4p is
    Horn #5 @147 WBO champ
    Porter #3 @147
    Spence #1 @147 WBC/WBA/IBF champ p4p #4

Looking at achievements it’s somewhat close but even still Crawford
    3-weight champ, 3x Lineal/2x Undisputed at 135,140,147
    Floyd
5-weight champ, 5x Lineal at 130,135,147(2x), 154 beat the most champions in boxing history.
Bud has fought 10 champions in total and that includes guys like Amir khan, kell Brook, Jeff horn, indogono?? floyd has beaten 24/25 champions and that includes guys like De La Hoya, Pacquiao, Genero, Castillo.
Just totally different level to me

Watch Floyd vs Guerrero at 147 (decent southpaw, nothing special). Then watch Crawford vs a much better Spence at 147 lbs. You have your answer.

He absolutely can beat Floyd. Floyd did not fight a single great welter in their prime.

Crawford beats every one of those guys and more convincigly

These he beats the **** out of and stops:
    Berto (wrecks with ease)
    Judah (early stoppage)
    Baldomir (late stoppage)
    Hatton (mid-round stoppage)
    Ortiz (mid-round stoppage)
    Guerrero (late stoppage)
    Maidana (late stoppage)
    Marquez (mid-round stoppage)

These he beats better than Floyd did (and I would not put it past him to stop them):
    Mosley
    Pacquiao

Pac was not prime when he fought Floyd. I believe Crawford is better than that Pac.

Floyd obviously has the greater career thus far and it's hard to see Crawford even equaling Mayweather in that department, let alone surpassing him.

But as far as quality of fighter, and how good they are, I'm not ready to conclude that yet. Crawford was every bit as masterful against Spence as any Mayweather performance was, imo, and against a better opponent than most all of Mayweathers opposition outside a couple.

Crawford would have dealt harshly with most of Mayweathers opponents, and I actually think he beats most of them better than Mayweather did.

Could you imagine Crawford vs JMM, Judah, Hatton, old Pac and Cotto? They would get the Spence treatment.

Head to Head is murkier, that's a great fight and a tough one to call, imo. I think the way they mesh as fighters may favor Mayweather stylistically, and I think he may have more dimensions in which to try and attain victory, but it's hard to say how the fight evolves once Crawford has Mayweather a bit more dialed in and doesn't have to be wary of his power.

So idk, I don't think it's blasphemy to think Crawford may be as good as Mayweather in actual quality and level.

But in terms of proven greatness, it's hard seeing him even catch Mayweather at this point.

What's bogus about it? Oscar De la hoya had the longest reach of Mayweather's welter/super welter opponents at 73 inches, but his arm length was shorter than Mayweather's. Against Crawford Mayweather would've had the first arm length disadvantage of his welterweight career

I think the thing is that Crawford is naturally bigger than Mayweather. So h2h or vs common opponents is probably not the best way to compare quality / how good they are IMHO. Yes, Crawford was masterful against Spence but clearly the style suited him + Spence couldn't take his power. Crawford has had poor performances too, I struggle to see Mayweather having issues with Gamboa for example. Likewise I could see Cotto giving Crawford issues.

Just on skill/quality, I do therefore have Floyd ahead when taking into account natural size difference.

No it isn’t. Floyd’s win over Pac is better. Pac went on to beat Thurman and become world champion again and Pacquiao is greater than Spence.

that sounds good they made that same argument about Pacquiao and manny got white washed, Floyd doesn’t mind coasting to a win, while bud goes for the kill a domination is a domination. Higher skilled guy with a better resume, your acting like Floyd wouldn’t easily breeze thru khan or Brook or mean machine or Jeff horn.. only difference is what one guy DID and what we believe the other could do.
