The only thing he did wrong was not DQ Khan for the punch after the break. People saying this either watched the fight on HBO or just don't understand the rules of boxing. You are not allowed to push someone or there head down - this is illegal in boxing. This is just a fundamental rule of the sport. Khan was warned on numerous occasions and continued to do it so why shouldn't he have been deducted points.

The ref did "Ok", not great but I've seen much worse.

I think he had a pretty solid fight - to blame the loss on him was ludicrous. Khan is lucky he never got a punch in the balls, that's what I do when someone pulls my head down continually.

i hope you'll be the first to criticise a referee for not enforcing these rules then. i look forward to seeing your review of the ref after the Ward-Froch fight next week. :good

I still had Khan winning even with the ref's deductions--114-111.

that was a quite good referee.. I love it when the referee just lets the fight go, fight out, fight out thats how it should be. not like these Pabon type jokes that don't allow any infight action. 2 warnings, third time you get taken a point away. thats what it is in boxing. if you try to push your opponent away like a three year old girl because you can't fight your way out, you lose points sooner or later. he should have taken another for hitting after the break no dq though.. Khans just a sore loser complaining about Peterson fighting dirty lmao

Peterson was guilty of fouling as well, most people on here know that. The ref was poor on the night.

Spot on actually, he let the fighters fight there way out a hold which Khan didn't like one bit. He was trying to spoil and look for the break - if he didn't get it pushed Lamont away or the head down.

This really is a no brainer.

Guilty of what? Even if he was, it still does not detract from the fact Khans deductions were justified.

Khan is one classless guy and deserved the deductions even if most referees are not that harsh, but if Khan deserved the deductions so did Peterson, you simply cant be harsh to fighter A and ignore fouls that fighter B may be doing.:good

What and exactly when did Peterson foul - I agree with your comment yes both should be punished, but I am not sure what you are referring to with Peterson. When did he foul?

I don't understand all the whining, personally.

Khan used spoiling tactics the entire fight to keep Peterson away from the inside. Pushing him away with both arms, holding his head down, head-locks, and he was even turning his back on Peterson in there at times as he did in the Maidana fight. Khan was WARNED repeatedly, but he didn't stop, didn't change anything. How stupid can you be? Apart from that he spent most of the fight jogging away from Peterson, and throwing pitty-patty combinations that didn't have that much success after the first few rounds. He had no plan B whatsoever. One dimensional.

On the other hand, Peterson was aggressive and did damage when he got on the inside, landing big uppercuts and hooks. Khan has no head movement, just eats shots all night when you corner him. As well as that, he was foolish enough to show bravado and intentionally take some big shots, just to prove he could. That's fine if the fight isn't close, but it was. For that reason, and certain other things in his history, Khan's up there with Ortiz as one of the stupidest fighters in boxing today in my eyes.

Peterson showed last night exactly how you beat Khan. If you stay outside and box with him, you'll be in trouble. If you apply constant pressure, walk him down and corner him, you can do damage. He didn't have an answer last night. No change of plan.

Peterson's hard work and Khan's stupidity won that fight for Lamont last night, not the ref, so quit the whining.

By the way, Khan's bitter comments after the fight probably went a long way to undoing all the hard work he put into gaining popularity in the U.S. I understand that it's hard losing your titles, but show a little humility for ****'s sake. He's such an idiot he probably didn't even realise how bitter his comments came across as.
