Why are people saying Wilder has a great chin now?

He was out on his feet vs Ortiz and took 3 good shots in that exchange and was gonna go down in 5 seconds, he hugged Oritz for 20 seconds while the ref let him, Golovkin has a great chin, never been hurt, caught with collosal bombs but was never even close to being hurt.

He has a much better chin that most realised. There are hundreds of threads on here about his chin from the same handful of posters all saying the second someone decent lands he'll be out of there. He took several flush shots of a heavy puncher how massively outweighed him and stayed up. He was hurt, sure. But he stayed up. I've not seen anyone say he has a 'great' chin but it's certainly far sturdier than many - myself included - imagined.

It's not Price bad, I'll give him that. But who knows, maybe Price will also demonstrate his granite chin against Povetkin.

Thank you paddy for speaking the truth without an agenda.
How anyone can view that fight and conclude that wilder has no chin is ridiculous. I have never been sold on wilder, very crude, swinging punches etc. etc. But he showed us something in Saturday's fight. Tonnes of heart, self belief and a desire to win at all costs. These are probably the most important things at world level. Sure, Ali would dance around both Joshua and wilder but their crudeness is part of the appeal. There is no Ali in the modern game, and I think Joshua v Wilder is genuinely 50:50. As fans what more could we ask for? I just hope the fight actually gets made in the next 12 months. I have to say Josh would have gone down from the punches from Ortiz, but both have shown heart and desire to get the job done. It's really interesting to see how it will pan out but what is clear is that these two are ahead of the pack. I genuinely cannot call a fight between them and that is very exciting for boxing. When did we last have two big guys at the top evenly matched for the top spot? I just hope that it doesn't get derailed for some reason.

Imagine if Price just drops his hands Mayorga and Eggington style and allows Povetkin to unload a flurry of free punches and STAYS STANDING, then beats his chest and throws back. Can’t think of a more amazing boxing moment that could happen this year.

When has a power puncher reeled off punch after punch into Golovkin chin? How many colossal bombs has the Golovkin chin taken off big MW hitters?

Well he took a few of Lemieux and didn't blink, took a succession of clean punches of Alvarez and kept on coming (there is an argument that Alvarez isn't a huge puncher) but even so GGG has a granite chin.

Wilder did well to stay up v Ortiz but hes been caught and hurt before. Ortiz is slow u can see the punches coming. Can Joshua find something faster that Wilder doesn't see.

Out on your feet is 1000 times better than out on ya back
Respect to Wilder and Ortiz as both showed massive grit and fortitude

Now that Wilder didn't get stopped as many of these trolls predicted they're bitter. They said as soon as he faced a big puncher like Ortiz he would be brutally koed, it didn't happen. Now they make dumabss threads like this instead of just admitting they underestimated Wilder's chin.

Alvarez wasn't a big hitter in his own division at 154. He's a MW now but his ko rate is zero%. Nobody who takes a few shots off a guy with zero% fists can claim to own a granite chin.

Saunders took a few clips off Lemiuex too and didn't blink. Like GGG he has never come close to tasting the canvas. Both have good chins but haven't been tested enough to call them 'granite' , or the GOAT chin like some people have labelled GGG.
A granite chin'd MW would have walked right through Canelo's feather dusters , especially when in the fight of his life like Golovkin was.
