Why are people screaming for Pavlik V Calzaghe, and not Dawson V Calzaghe?

I've been wishing for this fight for the better part of a year. Calzaghe-Dawson is one of the best fights that could be made in boxing.

 

If not the biggest, then one of the top two or three. Dawson's chin is freakin' glass. Johnson was one punch away from an indisputable KO victory.

 

As shot as Tarver is,he ain't no challenge for Dawson,it's gonna be easy work but Tarver is gonna have his chances,but don't think he pulls the trigger tough

Dawson's chin isn't glass please stop it.:nono If it was glass he would have been koed against Johnson or Adamek.:deal That term gets thrown around way too much around here. He was rocked by Johnson but didn't go down and showed tremendous heart by not running and standing his ground. A glass chin is someone like Khan who was starched not long ago.

lol yes i think its better to say he walks onto good shots some times but against a big puncher that could cost him, i think when he gets abit more experiance at top level this will not happen

 

I'd rather see Calzghe fight Glen Johnson.

 

He could have run but chose not to. He showed heart in that fight and has learned from it. Not to mention people act as if Johnson isn't a dangerous fight for anyone at 175.:-(

 

no johnson is a dangerous fight, so dangerous infact he won! poor old man

 

Because, Dawson lost to Glen Johnson, won't give him a rematch and was all but exposed against the same style of fight that Calzaghe brings - pressure, workrate and stamina.

Also, take into account, Pavlik is white. Beat the man who beat the man (twice) and is very fan friendly in his come forward, I'll hit you until you go down style.

ps - whilst Johnson is hard to beat, when a guy like Clinton Woods did it, anyone who can't is only a belt holder, not a champion.

 

Wrong,Johnson's style made it that he couldn't stand on the outside and box.If Dawson could have he would have stood only the outside,the standing and not runing part is a tactical mistake

 

Divorce and Hand Issues curtailed the first Johnson fight.

The second Johnson fight, Calzaghe offered him a title shot at 168 (in place of Peter Manfredo) and Johnson turned it down, citing that 8 weeks was too short notice for him to get to 168.
