Why are people so bewildered that Ortiz took that second shot without blocking?

He was STUNNED from the first shot, a hook with mean intentions that came from his blind spot, while he was caught COMPLETELY off guard.

stunned fighters are trained to defend themselves, be it shell up, grab on, or fire back....turning your head and shrugging your shoulders to the ref isn't a usual defense mechanism

I think after that hook he was waiting for shitty ref Ortez to jump in the middle and deduct a point from Floyd.

It's boxing though. Apologize once and move on.

It's a combat sport and an opportunistic one.

Not gay Mosley, "Oh wow, high five man, you tagged me with a good shot there. Aww...sorry I hit you so hard. Want to come over and watch movies later?"

Ortiz has a GLASS JAW, pure and simple. Can you imagine what woud've happened if Mayweather hit Jake LaMotta like that? He would've come right back.

If you can't take a punch, you can't take a punch. Ortiz's chin is PURE china, end of story.

There was like only about a 1 second window for him to bring his guard up, it wouldnt have been uncanny if the immediate thought that came through his mind after that was, "wtf? what happened" then blam right hand

You answered it. Stunned? He turned and shrugged thinking Ortiz would possibly penalize PBF. Stunned, no....Stupid, yes. let his smiling ass fight Berto instead. He states he didn't fight PBF for the money, please. He will never get this kind of attention and media again. Next....

    Maybe he's just not a well-trained fighter.
