Why are people so bothered about HW unification ??

Sultan is just another fighter, the fact he holds a WBO belt means nothing, its a completley irrelevant title, always has been. All wlad conquers by winning that is his own defeat by Brewster since sultan beat the guy that beat the guy that beat Brewster who beat Wlad. All Sultan has done is beat a asthma ravaged bodybuilder who threw nothing all fight and could hardly move and a 46 year old Holyfield that Lewis gets stick for beating when he was supposedly past it at 36!!!!

 

No. The title would be vacant. Kessler would be seen probably as the best, but not officially as the "man" or "champ".

 

I can't wait for Wlad/Iggy. 2007 Wlad made such short ass work (or too easy looking work) of his fights, just want to see him fighting. ****ed Austin up with just one hand!! and Jabbed Brewster to death. That's probably the only time I can recall that somebody took such a beating and quit from getting jabbed to death.

 

good post, exactly how I see it. Sultan still should be considered the weakest title holder at the moment, beating guys like Briggs and Holyfield does not make you the number 2 guy. I dont know maybe Im wrong here, but when theres a unification match, 9 times out of 10 its the number 1 facing the number 2 guy to see who the best in the world is. I myself could pick 3 or 4 different oppenents I would rather see Wlad fight than Iggy, and judging by others posts Im not alone.

I agree that Ibrag is not number 2, but he is certainly number 3 right behind Chag. No question.

And please name these three or four fighters who you imply are ranked higher than Ibragimov. I realize you didn't come out and say there are 4 above him, but you imply that.

Let's see your list, and please give reasoning for why each is ranked higher than the undefeated, WBO man, Sultan Ibragomov.

We need WBA/WBC/IBF unification to have a new champ. Unless Lewis comes back.

Nothing against Klitschko, I wouldn't mind if it was him who unified the titles, I just want one of those guys to do it.

 

Peter is still ranked higher than Iggy on every respected boxing list, so is Chagaev and Maskaev. The WBO belt has always been considered the weakest, Iggy won the belt from Briggs, the same Briggs that couldnt beat an old George Foreman 10 years ago. Iggy has beat Holyfield and Briggs, the same two that lost two oppenents that loss to Peters last 2 oppenents, that being Mccline and Toney.

Heres my top 5
1. Wlad
2. Chagaev
3. Peter
4. Maskaev
5. Iggy

I would also rather see Wlad fight Peter, Valuev, Chagaev, Povetkin, and Virchis, I think if you started a poll thread, more people would rather see Wlad fight these guys instead, dont you?

 

I don't see how you can rank Maskaev OR Peter above the undefeated Ibragimov.

Ibragimov has never been beaten, and that certainly has clout. Even though you may think Briggs is not a good win, well, Briggs did beat Laikhovich, who was the WBO titleholder. And the WBO is about as prestigous as any of the others, now, given all of the hoopla that these fragmented titles have gone through lately.

Ibrag
Maskaev Valuev (close for fourth and fifth)

 

Im not saying your list is no more right than mine, but if you look at the ring magizine or even Boxrec, they have Peter at either 2 or 3, I seen Iggy at 4 and 5 on the list, he was never in the 3 spot, it was either Chagaev or Peter, if you know a credible boxing site or magizine that has Iggy in the 3 spot I would love to see it.

I'd like to believe that, but USA papers give very little coverage, unless a USA guy wins...When Lacy beat reid, I saw alot of articles, and Stephen Smith of the once " Quite Frankly " was extatic, I think he either HAd or tried to have Lacy on his show...BUT When Calzaghe beat Lacy...it was nowhere to be found in the sports pages, and Sephen Smith was quite Frankly hiding someplace...If USA boxers take full sontrol, it will be coverd alot more
