Why are people so quick to dismiss Luis Ortiz?

The way he performed against Wilder, he's arguably a top 3-4 heavyweight still. I get that he's on the older side but man that counter punching ability for a HW was impressive. I see him beating parker and only losing to the two giants.

Because DW beat him. Ortiz is a beast.

Ortiz is a good solid win.

    The other 39 are not.

I was impressed with both fighters in that fight.

I thought Wilder was out on his feet but his chin held up and obviously persevered with Ortiz’ chin being suspect. Wilder has enough skill to back his elite athleticism and power to be taken seriously against anyone (and I didn’t necessarily think that before this fight).

Ortiz showed real skill though and if he was a little younger could’ve gotten DW out of there. The guy is probably 45 for all we know.

I don't think anyone is dismissing him. He did well vs Wilder and showed his power and skills are legit.

But again we also saw the same flaws in Ortiz. He's not good at pressuring opponents. He fights in spurts and looked slow. Ortiz is at the age where he can go from looking world class to being shot in his next fight. We've already seen the best of Luis Ortiz.

Nobody is quick to dismiss Ortiz. In fact, there's nothing quick about him, especially since he went through that period without his heart pills. We should start a crowd fund for a new zimmer frame for Ortiz! smh.

I really wanted Ortiz to win so he could be interviewed by Jim Gray and then say "Hey man.....I'm really 54 years old man. I beat George Foreman's record man. Check my medical records man" in a Tony Montana accent.

    That would have been epic

Because he's old (for a professional boxer) and his health is in a quite bad condition?

you should be asking, why are you not dismissing this 40something as you would any other 40something in cardio sport?

Usually you would but Ortiz has shown time and time again he can slow the pace of the fight down to his preferred pace and out hustle and counter the opponent. A thinking boxer is far more dangerous than just a speed one who relies on stamina and reflexes. Look at old man Foreman during his comeback.

Because Wilder beat him. TBH Ortiz is the 3rd or 4th best HW
still. And regardless of the cards, Ortiz beat the hell out of
Wilder and it was truly a great win. We all believe Ortiz is older
than he claims but he's still a top HW, HWs enter their prime at
a higher age than other fighters generally and he had minimal wear
on his body for his age.

Coz they hate Wilder if AJ beat him they would have said he is a monster. I don’t discredit AJs win over Wlad so not sure why people do it with Ortiz

Because treating Ortiz as a credible threat in the HW division doesn't fit their agenda.
