manny pac has not proved himself at lightweight let alone light welter. sure he beat a weight drained, inactive veteran in oscar de la hoya at welterweight. but come on, that was not odlh. it was a punch bag with a face and body like oscar

oscar had not fought at that weight for years

it was only 10 months ago we were questioning whther manny was the best at super feather. he was lucky to beat marquez

sure he looked great against diaz but he was not one of the elite at that weight. if he beat the other diaz, guzman or cambell so impressively, the odds on manny would be justified

The truth is, I don't think Hatton has a chance against Manny. Hatton's style works right into Manny's. A Guzman, or anybody else who can box, would give Manny problems.

6 months ago people were saying that Pac-Hatton was a mismatch in Hattons favour, now because Pac has beaten the plodding Diaz at 135 and a far from prime (to put it politely) Oscar he's going to brutalize Hatton at 140?

Pac has virtually no form at 130+.

Although Malignaggi put in a shocking performance against Hatton it showed that at 140lbs Ricky is extremely competetive. Remember almost everyone was saying that Malignaggi was going to box Ricky's head off...Hatton can be more elusive if he keeps improving under Mayweather, he will pressure (grab hit and hold) Pac and will have 100% more success than ODLH did. Will it be enough to wear down the Pacman?? I don't know...but I think it will be a great fight.
I would edge towards a late stoppage win for Pac.

no1 has a clue how the fight will go..

i think it'll be pretty competitive, then hatton stops him later on around the 9-11 rounds

just dont know with this one, manny's movement versus oscar was breathtaking at times, although there wasnt much to move from, but he did look lively, head and legs boppin back and forward.

but on the other hand, hatton wouldnt give him the time to move like that, we'll just have to see if the fight gets made, what with mayweather supposedly gatecrashing their talks.

Hatton is being written off for the same reason people wrote off Bruno when he faced Tyson. The average Sun reader may think Hatton will beat Pacman but everyone who has a bit of nouse knows what will happen.

ODH was not weight drained, the scales were dodgy and understated his actual weight. Also Pacman just too good for him.

They are putting far too much emphasis on the Diaz win for me.

If you ignore their records as fighters (Hatton and Diaz) and simply look at the 'Tale of The Tape' you will see that they are pretty much the same size and have similar reach. Their styles are essentially the same - pressure fighters.....

    But.....

    Hatton is faster
    Hatton is a bigger puncher
Hatton has more variety to his punches, and possesses a better jab (WTF)
Hatton has better defence (again WTF)
    Hatton has a better chin

    Basically.....

Hatton is better in every department than Diaz, either P4P or H2H. Anyone who says that Diaz was anything other than a handpicked opponent for Pacquiao wants shooting.

Now switch the comparison round and do it for Pacman-Hatton:

    Pacman is faster
    Pacman has a better defense
    Pacman has better stamina
    Pacman has superior technique
Pacman has a better jab and straight
    Pacman has better movement/footwork

Not to mention the style really suits Pacman, his opponent is there to be hit and exchange, hes the better boxer. He won't have problems with movement/timing like Marquez provided. Hatton has problems with southpaws

The thing about the Delahoya fight that was most important was it proved Pacman could weigh in at 142 and fight at 149 keeping his same level of P4P performance.

You think that all the other fighters on the card went to the weigh-in 3lbs overweight and that DLH lost weight in reality between the weigh-in and fight time? :nut

Basically Hatton needs to make this trench warfare and hope he is the stronger guy. Which I think he is.

When Pacquiao moves in Hatton will be on his way in too. Hatton can get close at that point and stop Pacquaio getting out and starting again, wear him down.

Morales and Marquez have shown that thinking fighters can outsmart Pacquaio. Now he's moving up it's only a matter of time before someone outmuscles him IMO.

Great fighter but these weight jumps defy logic. But maybe my logic needs retuning. We'll see.
